But I know Dawson and Rose are both below the grade we need to propel us into top 4.

Even getting BAE back would be nice.

But we are joint 4th?

CBs: Vertonghen, Dawson, Chiriches, Kaboul. Capoue, Fryers and even Walker can fill in there. Can't get a new CB until one of the 4 specialist CBs leave. Most likely will be Kaboul in the summer, and given that Dawson is seasoned, Chiriches is transitioning from young to prime, Vertonghen is in his prime, I'd wager we're go for either a very young CB who can bide his time, or an older one who can be relied upon when he needs to play, without being an automatic starter.

LB: Yes, we need one. There's a bloody good lad down at QPR, can't think what his name is though...

I believe Soldado can play that role. It's where he has played his whole career.

If Sherwood persists with the system, it will be interesting to see if Soldado can come in and start scoring, now the whole team is beginning to look a lot more confident and settled.

personally I really doubt Soldado can play that lone striker role in the PL, doing it in Spain is very different to the PL given the pace and physicality of the league . He just looks way too static for me and physically unable to hold the ball up against powerful centre halfs.
Strikers like Benteke, Torres, Rooney and Adebayor all have attributes required to play this type of role. Soldado just looks physically incapable and one paced imo.

I know the rumours are just that, but I'm worried that none are linking us with a move for any CBs or LBs.

They all seem to be associating us with strikers and dare I say, more midfielders.

I'd be devastated if we continue with Dawson and Rose in our first 11 come Feb.

That is surely indicative of poor performance up top and behind.

But I'm more comfortable with Bobby and Ade up top than I am with Daws and Rose at the back..

Soldado's passing and technique are excellent but just because he has played a part in a few of our goals doesn't change the fact that he has been nullified by a lot of defences and regularly bullied out of games.

As has been said, playing in La Liga and playing in the PL are totally different. 99% of foreign players coming into this league all say the same thing when they have been a here : namely they were surprised by the pace and physicality of the PL. That's straight from the horses mouth and they can't all be wrong.

A left back who is well intergrated into our team, who has been playing premier league football all season and hasnt done much wrong

A left back who has been playing championship football all season, is disruptive and would need integrating back into the team and is only popular because he says LOL on twitter, when in reality, he is pretty average.

totally agree on daws and rose... for all his heart and effort dawson is a disaster. always though he was good and decent but this season more than most i see a rapid decline.. was all over the shop against bony on sunday..

we wont get top 4 if he is regular till end of season.. and dont care what anyone says any side we come up against good or bad target our left back back and between lines when these two play.

i dont agree on bae though.. lazy half arsed attitude ,never saw that love people have for him on here.. very average and fact he is playing in championship now says it all.. no real heart or passi or hunger for it.

Striker and Left back needed. If we can get him and he wants to come, Berbatov is a no-brainer.
Rose is doing ok, but he will cost us eventually. Need someone better if we can.
If these two positions are filled with quality I think top 4(or better) is ours.

Strange BAE hasn't been linked away on a permanent basis. He's not coming back and with his contract running down it would make sense to make some money now than lose him on free in the summer

Think it runs out next year. Only Kaboul, Friedal and Gomes this summer.
