Has it ever been mentioned that Rob could be Levy? I mean "get your pledges in"....he knows everyone will say I'll give 'x' amount for Leandro and whatever for anyone else.

He'll end up turning a profit from buying Leandro:ninja:

Tottenham have made a deadline day attempt to sign Leandro Damiao with a bid worth £16 million for the Brazilian striker.

Spurs have held fresh talks with the 23-year-old’s club, Internacional, over the last 48 hours and are now in advanced talks as they try to land their long-term target and boost their chances of a top four finish.

Sources at White Hart Lane believe a move before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline remains ‘very difficult’, in large part due to third party ownership issues, with 30 per cent of Damiao’s economic rights held by third-party investors.

But the Londoners are making a late push to sign the Brazil international amid Emmanuel Adebayor’s continued participation at the African Cup of Nations and concerns over Jermain Defoe’s hip problem.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and chairman Daniel Levy are both huge fans of Damiao and the club have chased the player for two years, only to fail to agree a deal with Internacional.

They had put their plans to bid for Damiao on hold until the summer but are now making a late push to complete a move on the final day of the window after receiving indications that Internacional are ready to strike a deal.

Damiao, who has 14 caps for Brazil, caught the eye as he finished top scorer in the 2012 Olympic Games with six goals but then struggled for form and fitness during the Brazilian domestic season last year.

Would love that to be due to us, but am more worried that it has everything to do with Anzi. But fingers crossed

If it's true that we actually really want to sign LD, and have genuinely put bids in, it absolutely beggars belief that we're trying to wrap up what has been described by everyone and his dog as a "very difficult deal" on the last day of the bloody transfer window.

I'm a big Levy fan, and obviously the vast majority of us have no idea what's actually going on inside the club, but there's been too much info about our interest in LD for it all to be wrong, IMHO. At the end of the day, we are (these days) a regular top 4/5 side and - apparently - were minutes away from paying around £20m for Moutinho in the summer, so money is there for the right player.

Apologies for the moan but strikers are expensive for a reason, and if we want to be a CL regular and challenging for the title - which is a real prospect with a few additions - then at some point we're going to have to pay the going rate for a top, top striker.
