At the end of the winter window we were told we were already looking towards summer, and we got the players in early.

Now with a new team a new team around him, I'm sure we are looking and talking about the next window.

Yep, I'm expecting good things from the ex Rangers scout.

The future is bright at the moment.

I'm satisfied with our business.

Still think we're a few short to really challenge - but we should have enough to consolidate a top 4 finish IMO.

Onwards and upwards!

Cheers mate. Just personally dont understand how January is any different to this summer, we've had the time to do the deals. If anything the prices can be more expensive. Nevertheless, very good window overall. Coys
The main issue with getting our big targets has been selling clubs (by the sounds of things). I know it’s easier to blame Spurs for absolutely everything but that really doesn’t seem the case here at all.

Those selling clubs will be more antsy in Jan.

Not throwing shade at any of our resident ITKers because I love you more than my own family, I was just wondering when we would hear that old chestnut of looking ahead to the next window

It’s been a good window with some shrewd business, but it still feels a bit half baked

It's always kicking the can down the road, never truly fully going for it.

The start of this window was fantastic so hopefully things have changed a bit and we can give the team a boost in January.

Hopefully Conte and the boys can keep us in contention in all comps until then.

Got no idea why we would think anything would be different in January, if anything we've been told time and time again during mediocre January transfer windows how difficult it is to do deals in January.

Think the window has been solid, unfortunately not spectacular like it seemed like it was going to be at the beginning. Still a few glaring holes in the squad.

Done a good job getting people out the door, albeit on loan.

Probably a 7/10 window and a fight for fourth across the season.

Guess that rumoured £35M champions league release clause was never true as that would have seemed like a perfect fall back option to go for.

Far from a perfect window but solid nonetheless and we are in a stronger position than we were. I like to think by the end of next summer we’ll be somewhere close to where we need to be. Thing is we’ll need champions league football again and I’m sure Antonio would like to have some silverware before then. As long as we keep Kane and Conte happy we’re going in the right direction

We literally signed Bentancur and Kulusevski just last January.

The key thing to remember is that Rome wasn’t built in a day. It’s not easy overcoming years of constant financial doping and player stockpiling. Give the genius time and the tools to work. Getting top 4 again this season would be a huge achievement but regardless we’re in good hands now.

The big problem with all this long term thinking all of a sudden is that Conte has one year left on his contract and Kane two. The performances haven't been convincing this season so far. We are really going to struggle to get 4th unless we get at least one key player in January - seems unlikely tbh. The main difference between us and Arsenal, United, Newcastle is that we are in the highest level of European competition. That's going to put much more of a strain on our key players so I think injuries are inevitable. The numbers are there in the squad, but is Conte going to play Tanganga, Gil, Lucas in important matches? I don't think so. They'll also likely have to play every game in the cups which probably means no trophies - again. If Conte is happy then fine, but I have to say i'm surprised by this new attitude of his. Shouldn't the aim to be consolidate our place in the CL, go all out for the cups and see how far we get in the CL? Just don't think the strength and depth is adequate enough for that and it screams get everything ready for next season by which point Kane is off and there's another rebuild.

I guess some players will be on their way out of European competition or looking at their clubs prospects for the season and beyond with a bit of concern?

To head of the inevitable PM I'll get from you, no, you're likely upcoming ban was not for questioning ITK. It was for the images in the ITK thread.

My bad, didn’t realise that was a rule. And I wasn’t questioning the ITK I believe them more than a grown man really should, I’m questioning the approach of the club

Well I think it's fair to say it's been a disappointing end to the window with how well we started it. I suppose if we're looking for positives the biggest one would be the coach I thought we hired is not the one we have. I never expected Conte would be happy to build a squad over time, but here we are. We've looked at numerous options to add to the squad over the last couple of weeks, but AC would rather wait. We've looked at bringing in loans to bridge the gap, but like many on here Conte didn't believe those we could have got were of sufficient quality, so we haven't done it.

We've been looking at a couple today, but for whatever reason(don't know yet) it's not happened.

It's been super tight info wise the last couple of weeks, and I can see it being this way going forward.

See if I hear any more over the next couple days for the usual window round up.

Ps. this is just my view, I don't represent the club, so quoting this post to tell me where we went wrong is pointless.

You know Man City didn’t get their main target last season dont you? And they waited and tried for someone else.
How has that worked out for them?

Start of a new regime with a brilliant DOF and a top class coach, if we add more in January and keep adding things are looking good, Starting to act like a top 4 club, and a least we have a strategy and not signing players out of panic

I think this is the crux of it. We will have to keep backing him. He's far more reasonable than I expected but only when he thinks he's being listened to and backed.

Levy has to maintain this level of support.

I don’t buy into this “preparing for next window” nonsense. It’s all I kept hearing in January. We spent weeks at the start of summer chasing bastoni as he was clearly the main target. If they were “preparing” for summer in January then they should’ve known he didn’t want to come and we could’ve saved weeks. Also, I know they’re not at the club currently, but none of the deadwood are actually off the books, all loans, not even with obligations to buy, they’ll be back next summer. 5/10 window, optimistic for the season, but fearing that we’ve missed yet another opportunity. The frustration is we had the opportunity to really pull clear of Arsenal and maybe Chelsea but we haven’t and with a few injuries we are in trouble.

The window has been much better and there has actually been some planning. This is the sort of window we should have had for a quite a while, but we are still short in some key areas, especially given the ridiculous fixtures this year.
As soon as Arsehole get some injuries they will fall away. They haven’t played anyone decent yet and Arteta is their manager so I’m sure it won’t be long and they’ll be dropping down.

Skysports doing their usual late story to keep viewers watching... apparently Depay is in talks with a mystery club. Wonder if it could be Spurs, i'm getting desperate for a transfer now ?
