The targets for LCB are very underwhelming, and not great. I include Torres in that. Can’t defend, poor in the air. We did sniff Carmo. Out of what I have seen on the list thus far, he is the best option.

Compared to Dier and Romero, he has a better Aerial success rate and wins more ground duels …

I don’t think Ben Davies should be ruled out as the best option. It’s his place to lose after all but we do need cover there.

Excellent squad player but if we really want to progress and challenge we need somebody that offers more

I can only assume Gvardiol isn't on the 'list' due to what Leipzig would command and how much it would eat into the rest of our budget.

Says something when people are down on the likes of Torres now considering the season he's had and like @Trix states, has the fundamentals to be that classy LCB for us.

Yeah I was dead excited about him coming last year. Every time I’ve seen him he’s looked class to me. This could be a blessing in disguise in that it allows us to spend more money elsewhere.

Players can play better at clubs than for national teams. Just watch the England side. How many of those look better when in a club side suited to their strengths?

And he's had a really good season since then as well. Obviously I would have preferred us to get Conte's first choice(whom ever that would have been), but he'd still be a quality addition imo. If of course that's the direction we go in.

Absolutely. Could be a situation like January. Thought we were screwed not getting the furry headed guy that went to Scouse, but ultimately probably worked out better for us with Kulu.

Many on this site seem to get quite upset when people talk about improving on Davies. He's a good player but we have a pretty strong XI based on how we finished last season. If we want to get better we have to upgrade on some already quite good players. He's not the first player in that list but he's not far down it.

Disagree on P.Torres, he’d be a perfectly good option and would also improve more under Conte.

To be fair the one thing I learnt in January was most of you don't know anything about a decent player ?.

Kulu and Bentancur were awful. Before that Ndombele was the 2nd coming for the majority.
