JJ previously mentioned a fans favourite. Would say Dier and Alli fit that category.
I’d not expect Dele, he has a deal till 2024 like Harry and whenever he’s sold will be for a huge profit and at his age, with his gifts, he’s very likely to get better. Dier, however, only has two years. There’s also Vertonghen with one year remaining, at his age it would make sense, and he’s one of our least divisive, most popular players.

Personally, I would keep Dier - his versatility and capacity to fill in at CB or RB, as well as CM, is a real asset, as is his attitude. These types of players (think John O’Shea, Phil Neville etc) were v valuable for Ferguson during Utd’s best years.

It’s not the hope that kills you, it’s the guessing who the Fans’ Favourite is

Did JJ definitely say ‘fans favourite’ or a people coming to that conclusion when he said something on the lines of people would not expect these players to be sold?

It would certainly rankle feathers but I can see this. There probably won't ever be a time when we could sell him at a higher value, and with major changes in CM being planned for this window I could see it being the case that Poch sees a lessened role for him.

Same dynamic would apply to Lucas. Either one of those would be pretty unpopular given the past season but might make sense to Poch and Levy from a business perspective.

And Dier was at heart of the battle of the Bridge....hence fan favourite.
