did you see the spurs tv penalty shoot out. 'England' vs 'Germany'. Walker and Naughton vs Freund and Holtby...Holtby's penalties were shockingly poor! infact all 4 were rubbish
I did, I was blaming the horrendous slightly overcast weather

I'm still of the opinion Harry won't be there by next season. Would have thought something will come through to tempt him in the Summer.

I've still got a £5 on him being the next Everton manager but it ain't looking promising......:(

Can we take it as read that people want Tom Carroll to go to Swansea?
I've read that countless times in the last day!

Personally, I'd prefer him playing every week in the Championship over sporadically in the Prem.

I think Livermore to stoke isn't such a silly idea for Livermore. He will never realistically play for a top 7-8 team so he is looking at the Fulham's, WBA's and Stoke's of this world.

With Mark Hughes? I doubt if it is any good for him.

Well Sandro himself, Bale?, Berbatov?, Modric?, Lennon? Kaboul? BAE?

All players who we spotted and took a gamble on.
You can add Walker and plenty of absolute failures to that list as well.

Scouting is not as important as people think anyway, mostly because everyone knows everyone these days. Buying players involves a lot more than that. Mostly risk valuation, does player x fit in with the team we are trying to create etc.

It is, also, easier for worse teams to make risks. This is because a worse team can buy an established 6 million player but struggles to compete with bigger clubs for a £10m player which means they are more willing to pay £10m for a player who might be worth even more or might be a complete flop. For a club like tottenham it is easier to just buy the player who is already proven. What we need to do this window is get world class players in, but we are not big enough to buy already established world class players, so we need to take a risk on a couple of £20m players.

Livermore could do better than Stoke.

I disagree. I haven't seen Livermore show that he is capable of achieving anything more than a role at a mid-table club. His passing isn't great, he is constantly moving out of position as he is attracted to the ball, he is prone to giving away silly fouls and doesn't really have the temperament to play at the very top level. So I think Stoke would be a great fit for him, and I wish him luck no matter where he goes.

If Carroll does become available for loan, ideally I'd like to see him go and play at Villa. Lambert has shown this season than he's prepared to give young inexperienced players a chance, and for this reason I think Tom Carroll will fit in well there. They are dying for some creativity in the middle of the pitch, and tbh Villa worked wonders for Walker in terms of both his progression as a footballer as well as PL experience. We got back a far better player in comparison to when we sent them, who went on to win YPoTY.
That is pretty much exactly what I said on yesterday's thread, I really agree with the idea.

We have interest in a young Danish forward that I've never heard of, plays for Copenhagen. From the sounds of it, he will probably stay there or go to a club where he's more likely to get immediate game time, but rest assured our scouting system is in full flow looking for the next young striking talents.

Agreed, for a player who doesn't make a forward past he can't expect to do any better than Stoke.

Maybe if he wasn't so worried about making a forward pass and didn't mind taking a risk that he may give the ball away it would improve him as a player but he hasn't progressed at all in the last few seasons.
