A point well made, and maybe I'm seeing us far above our station, but I still consider us to be in that block over recent history. Would the last 5 seasons not put us there on average?

over the last five seasons we've been the 5th best club country

indeed we've been the 5th best over the past ten seasons too

That reads horribly like the answer to a GCSE Maths exam.

Hehe it was tongue in cheek because people started talking about our average position and what our range is blah blah blah.

As far as I'm concerned, right now we're the fourth best in the country, and it'll be at least a year before that changes. You finish where you deserve to!

Our mean position is 6.6th (so lets say 6th or 7th) with a standard deviation of 2.9 (quite high in this instance).

Our mode position is 5th.

Our median position is also 5th.

Basically, though inconsistent, the past 5 years shows us to be a 5th - 7th team who have the occasional disaster and the occasional purple patch.

I think that sounds fairly accurate.

Lovely stuff. That means that our 95% confidence interval is (0.196,12.284), making it totally feasible that our average over all time is 1st. Then again, that is assuming a normal distribution, which I would suggest our league finishes is anything but. It's probably more a negative log-normal or gamma.

Turan would be a great start, gives us options as he can actually play on both the left and right unlike all of our other bench players, as Bentley is awful on the left and Niko is pretty shite on the right. Even great players like Modric are pretty awful on the right so he would give us more options for the long season ahead.

Don't really believe it until he signs but he fits all the must haves in my mind, young, yet has international and champions league experience, won't break the bank, (10-12 million should do it) and won't break our wage structure which is the real key. So Levy would be much happier with this move than the Joe Cole one, has resale value, fits our system better than Cole as Turan can play in a 4-4-2 or in a 4-5-1.

Please let today be the day. I want to be excited but just getting frustrated. Two of the most important games in our history are coming up and I would love a special player to be bought that can set that competition alight.

Anyway off to bed and will be off till Friday. So will have to live on BBC gossip column. Have a good few days people don't work to hard.
