But that proves my point exactly - I'm not saying that we should've signed anyone, or expressing a personal opinion on who we should've signed - but it's obvious (in the very first instance from statements by Harry that he wanted 3 players this offseason) that we were after a number of players to strengthen the squad, and at the same time trying to offload some deadwood.... and the fact is that yet again the club has failed to manage this situation to its own benefit.

If, as you say, Sevilla were never gonna let Fabiano go easily then we should've reached that conclusion much sooner in the window and moved on decisively to our next target (if any). Instead, Levy & co. have let themselves be strung along throughout this transfer window by Sevilla and others (see City re: Micah Richards, Villa re: Ashley Young, etc.) and have now reached the 11th hour with not much on the table by all accounts.... and my fear is that we reach for somebody at an inflated price just to satisfy ourselves that we've made a signing, any signing...

spot on!

the bundesliege seems to be rising in popularity doesnt it! deiego goes to wolfsburg for a snipp and huntelaar to schalke now.i would have thought any teams in england or spain would snap them up before schalke and wolfsburg respectively. its not like they are signing for bayern

looks like we have to stick with keane and pav..don't understand how if we were interested, we couldn't compete with schalke for his signature?

Sorry, but how do you sell players with no buyers? How do you buy players without the selling club agreeing a fee with you? Why do people have this idea that transferring a fairly important player from one club to another is a formality!

If, as you say, Sevilla were never gonna let Fabiano go easily then we should've reached that conclusion much sooner in the window and moved on decisively to our next target (if any). You say "(if any)" but if noises are correct, there aren't any others. So we pressed hard for Fabiano. "Let themselves be strung along" something that you have zero knowledge of. That's just a massive assumption.

As for what may happen tomorrow, we'll soon see.

And no, impspur, it's not "spot on" at all. Not even close.

Hello everybody!

i'm reading here for a while and would like to start posting with a few quotes from KJH. Today he told dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad:

"I think Schalke is a big club, they are always fighting for the title and it will be a great challenge for me to win the league with this club.

Now we have to complete the deal on the paper."

So we missed out on Fabiano and Huntelaar, who's next?

and raul to Shalke...we could have had both for approx £10m and had 2 better and more experienced strikers than we have in the current 4

Not been our day! Our two top stiker targets both ruled out...
well if its any consolation my source has always maintained we have never had any interest in any striker but fabiano so i dont think we have lost another target at all....

I personally think the 50% tax has really put people off coming to England this season, the transfer market has been unusually quiet and City are the only team really able to compensate for such a huge tax on wages.
