And a lone striker, except that we don't have one yet. We only have four experienced international strikers who have played in major international tournaments and thre Champions League.

We've done just fine. I never wanted any big-time signings, although I wouldn't have thrown Joe Cole or Luis Fabiano out ofd the pub. What's the point in signing players who aren't any better than the ones we have. Most fans underrate our players and think Suarez and Huntelaar are superstars because they score 30+ goals a year in Eredivisie. FFS, Defoe would score 50 a year in Eredivisie.

OMG did DM use the letters FFS to put a point across? red card.

Yeah, I guess our 4 strikers are good enough, we¡ve Robbie Keane who's not played since Christmas and 3 others who have scored 16 goals between them in 27 games, failing to score in 15 of those games.

Great stuff. Long may it continue, why would anyone feel the need to better that strikeforce? :bang:

He needs more then a red bull mate. It might help if he actually got his chequebook out for a change ;-)

(This is just a joke, dont get on my back about how good he is as our chairmen and how well we are run financially - I know!!!)

to be honest, i've always back Levy 100% ..

but to get Free transfer like Gallas and £7m signing would throw some doubts on Levy ambitions .. we dreamt for CL football for years to get a players to insure our CL status/reputation and spent only £7m would be disaster ..

Well its not a disaster. I have no doubt we have the money, but why spend money for the sake of it? It needs to be the right player coming in.

What would we achieve from splashing 10-20 mill on a player of whom we have no need of. Saying 'look we spent xxx on xxx' wont appease the fans, it will just add strain to the finances of the club, add a player onto the wage bill and make us no better off then we were with him.

As harry has been saying, he will only buy to improve. At the moment its hard to improve on what is a v.good squad we have right now.

Diarra and Fabiano/Huntelaar/Suarez/Forlan would all be improvements.

Parker & some of the others, no thanks.

Yeah, would rather no one that more Bent/Bentley-type 16mil purchases.

At the same time, I could really go for a Berbatov/Modric type deal!

I'm actually happy we haven't signed most of the players we've been linked with. The only one i'd really have liked was Bellamy (yes i know - not a popular choice). We've got a back up GK in Pletikosa, and defensive cover in Gallas and another DM in Sandro. while none of these would have been my 1st choice for those positions they are all reasonable choices in positions we needed cover for.

We've also picked up a world class prospect in Anthony Luzano which i'm delighted about as it's the first time we've signed a truly top quality youngster from overseas.

Now all we need is the right type of striker and all along i've believed that player is Radamel Falcao. If we were to sign him i'd be a very happy bunny indeed.

I'm with you FatPiranha none of the linked players i'm that excited about. What we have got so far has been excellent with Gallas Pletikosa and Sandro. I do think we need a better number 9 /centre forward but if there isn't better available why spunk 15-20 mill on a mediocre player with a big name?

I'm still hoping we blow everything on Dzeko! shall we pass around the hat ?

I think you have to admit that this transfer window has been little more than average. Not a disaster but disappointing that we couldn't get the top, top player we sought (and many would say we need).

I don't think we could have done much more and with time now running out the only deals open are those where the selling club will be able to command a fee that satisfies them, the selling manager is happy to let a player leave, said player wants to join us, his agent is happy with his cut, Levy is okay with the spend, and Harry believes the player will add something to our squad/team.

I'll be honest I'm not sure I can think of anyone that fits all those cases.

Going to bed. When I wake, there will be a few hours left to sort out the mess that is our front line (Lazy, Flappy, Offside and Crouchy) which is either dangerously injured or not deemed good enough by Harry.

I expect we will sign Muntari, sell Keane and be forced to consider a 4-6-0.

Being in hong kong means this final dy of the transfer window is going to drag..it's going to be a long day. Here's hoping that DL pulls something out of the bag!

If you called him Peter you could spell F.L.O.P.

I'm not sure that would make you feel any better though.

very good BO....Eek

I blame Irving Scholar, Alan Sugar and Terry Venables and lady who puts cats in the bin for us not buying all the current players in the premier league, La Liga and Serie A.
Levy obviously doesn't have a strategy and has been sitting on his hands all window and we all know that to be a (Rafa) Fact! Right boys ?

Doesn't levy get it. Man city are not going to sell to us

i think there are a chance of that if we offered £20m+ considering to Adebayor bad attitude and it's big offer .. not compared to Bellamy and his cheap move by us LOL
