Barca can't buy a player because they spent out on alba?? Didn't he cost around 11m?? They up there with the wigans of the football world in spending power then!

I think Bassong has more of a look in under AVB than some people may think. He's more suited to that high line than Dawson for example. I certainly don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he'll leave.

My issue with Bass is that when he controls or plays with the ball it looks like he has club foot

Hoo-fucking-ray. He was great on occasion in his first season but became a disaster last season. His display in the semi-final (including throwing in the towel for the last twenty minutes or so) was arguably the worst performance I have ever seen from a centre-back.

Thanks for the leadership and all that, Bill, but it really is time that you weren't here.

I see your worst Centre back performance and raise you a Stuart Nethercott.........

I think Guti does have a point. Has Luka schemed us all the way to a trophy? Has he had a year where he has smashed his assists and goals record? Had he been voted the best player in the league? What is it that makes him feel that he is so much better than us?

To be fair he created shedloads of chances that weren't taken and ran the show quite a lot of the time, with arguable his heart not really in it tbh. I think he'd shine in a better team, I really do.

He wanted out and DL said no, it was inevitable he wouldn't stick around, there was bad blood it would seem. Not qualifying for the CL was the kicker IMO.

He's a great player, the ****.

Gallas' 'performance' in the semi final was an embarassment, he also seems like the type to buck at a young, radical new manager and create dressing room unrest

No-one said they only had £11M, it's just they might not have another £40M to try to buy Bale - especially when Alba is a left back and it's rumoured that Barca wanted Bale to move back to into that position for them.

But it's fairly moot at this point. When a hot property player signs an extension, it is a commitment for the year. It's very rare that any player, let alone one of Bale's stature, to sign and then move on. Not saying that it hasn't happened, but that extension puts an end to all speculation for one year.

Ledders can't sprint no more and I can't see AVB if appointed using him to play the high line, I think ledders will retire and be one of AVB's new coaches.

Sorry to disagree Happy, but Levy's MO is for players (usually fringe players tbf) to sign a new deal then be flogged within weeks. Not that I think it'll happen, just saying...

I saw an interview earlier today with Huw Jenkins, the Swansea chairman, who was explaining why he has abandoned his interest in Siggurdsen; he said that once Rodgers left he knew that the player was less interested & decided that he would give the Sig money to Laudrup to spend on his own choices & added at the end something along the lines of "Gylfi...& Steven Caulker as well, were fantastic but we have to move on from those players & let the manager build his team..."

I was paraphrasing there, I'll try to find the quotes but it would seem to suggest that Caulker will be with us next season & as such, its reasonable to suggest that the 'Gallas to "Somewhere Else"' story has legs...

I think we might have let Rodgers loan Caulker another year in part in building a relationship with him and so that Caulker can get used to playing that football, once he went to Liverpool, any chance of that went away.
