Can Fabiano not just wait 3 or 4 months and then start talking freely to other clubs anyway in Jan - last 6 months of his contract etc?

If so, then Sevilla get absolutely nothing and Fabiano can sign for someone on a nice contract with a phat signing on fee thrown in. He won't lose out. Probably come our ahead that way.

Squeeze the bastards, Daniel.

Even so, please let us have a fall back option because improving our strikers is vital if we're to challenge for another top 4 place.

Yes he can....Which does mean this is Seville's only chance (this window) of getting anything for him.

Equally Fab and his agents etc, could also be thinking the same...in why sigh for anyone now? I'll be 30 soon...This is my (fab) last chance at a big pay day, wait till Jan, agree pre free contract, get a shed load of signing on fee and wages. I know no itk has suggested this is the case, but surly it is a possibility.

As much as we can play the waiting game that sevilla need to sell. We really need to snap him up now as well.

Yes his contract will run out and then he will be available on a free - but then this is where arsenal, liverpool and some other european big dogs come along and snap him up because they are then in a position in which they only need to pay his premium wages - which dont seem to be too premium if agreeing a contract with spurs seems to be a formality. We also know he wants a big contract, so money will most definetly have an effect on his decision.

Quite simply. Its now or never for sevilla to sell him - but its also now or never for us to buy him as he will bugger off to a more reputable team if available on a free.

Basically, by the 31st August. Luis Fabiano will be a spurs player - that im sure of.

I said the other day that a striker like Fabiano would be vital in the CL but on reflection the truth is we aren't going to win the CL, the league is much more important in terms of maintaining status. It is vital we are challenging for 3rd ot 4th for the next few years and we desperately need a finisher who is stronger than Defoe and Pav with a better range of finishes than Defoe.

Personally if I had my way we'd off load Keane and Defoe and bring in Suarez and either Fabiano or Huntelaar. Or any two from those three.

Finding the uber (hold up, with pace, skill and finishing) striker will take longer anyway - they are gold dust.

Agree with most of that. Don't want to offload Defoe though.

conductor, fabiano IS that hold up player with skill and pace. that is why he can play as the lone striker. his finishing is ok too. the only problem is that he is on the older side. huntelaar is NOT a hold up player. So, if Suarez does end up at WHL, he will be the Keane to Fabiano's Berba.

I'm not sure what the HUGE fuss many are making wrt Fabiano. i will not be dissapointed if we do not get him. I see failure written all over him. a Robinho all over again. i have no stats to prove my argument/ position on this one. I get the feeling we are hyping him up due to our lack of transfer activity. I do agree though that we need one very exceptional striker. Is he or KJH the answer ??? i am not so sure. anyhow sorry to spoil the excited anticipation of soooo many.
