Defoe to be out for about 6 weeks after tomorrow to have groin surgery, even more likely we'll sign a striker now.

I never quite get the way people use the word "believe" in regard to ITK. I keep reading dissertations on whether people "believe" what adiepf is saying. It's unclear and doesn't really say anything.

I am confident, because of the way he expresses himself and his long membership here, that adiepf is not lying. He's reporting stuff that he's being told as accurately as multiple memories and the principle of Chinese Whispers permit.

But people keep blurring this with two completely different questions: (a) whether adiepf's source is telling him codswallop, fibbing to him, trying to show off or just spinning tales for reasons of his/her own and (b) whether Fabiano is actually going to end up signing for Tottenham.

The result is total confusion and non-communication. If Fabiano doesn't sign, it doesn't make adiepf's info wrong or make him a liar, it just means that either things changed at the last minute or adiepf's source was stringing him along or - more likely - exaggerating.

What I don't get if why so mny people seem to be incapable of distinguishing between these things - it's not difficult and it doesn't require a powerful intellect, just a bit of basic calm and observation - and why people get so tied up in rage about what's basically a bit of a third hand leak from the club.

Logical and correct - but it still won't stop them!

There is no logic on these forums, they really are devoid of much rational thought. For instance there was 3 pages on how Fabiano's wave at the end of the Braga game was deemed good indication of whether he was going to sign for us.

hilarious.

I have my doubts that he's an upgrade on what we have.

Football is always about opinion but someone who has scored almost 1 goal in every 2 games for Seville and 28 in 43 for Brazil is better than the strikers we've got.

If we don't win tomorrow there's going to be some pretty stupid fuckers on here wondering why they spent 6 days and 47000 posts debating whether Fabiano can play in the group stages of the CL.

WTF does it matter. Newsflash. We ain't gonna win the fucking CL. Best we can do is hit the group and rake in the dough, and concentrate on making the top 4 again.

good read here http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/aug/24/tottenham-hotspur-young-boys-champions-league

sorry mods if in wrong place but it did say about Fabiano

I like this bit:bowdown:

Spurs fans are imagining. When you are so close to the Champions League group phase, it is easy to get carried away. But there is a potential hitch and, as Redknapp fielded questions about Luka Modric's injury, Jonathan Woodgate's make-or-break operation, his new signing William Gallas and Fabiano, it was brought to his attention by a Swiss journalist. "This press conference has been about everything to do with Tottenham but what about Young Boys?" he asked

Bayern in for Ozil.

Can I just say that this post was BLOODY FUNNY before the latest slew of Fabiano cup-tied stuff got (rightly) moved.

Now it just looks shit and even spammier than it already was, for which I apologise unreservedly.

If you say so.

Footballers who court a celebrity lifestyle do my head in, spurs or otherwise.

But they're treated as celebrities in terms of media coverage and wages. Can't blame them for acting like them.
