Hmm that doesn’t sound good at all

If the club are going back on promises or not willing to invest the money we need to then Conte will not be happy and we will start to hear about it.

Other reports and ITK seemed to have suggested Conte was happy with the business we did early and quickly and that with that £150mil draw down the club is putting the money where it’s mouth is so bit concerning if something has now changed right at the end of what has been a very very good window by all accounts in terms of both ins and outs cleaning up and improving the squad.
I think this one is going to be a slow burner. Could be January, could be next summer. Might even not happen, anything can change, but the next two transfer windows are, in my onion, crucial.

Exactly. We've made some great progress in overhauling the squad but not every player in key positions can be traded up in one window. The different aspects of a transfer are multiple and perhaps with the remaining first choice options, things are just not lining up now. So time to keep the powder dry until the opportunity arises in Jan/next year and in the interim bolster as best we can where we still need to.

I thought the £150M had to be drawn down this year? Maybe that was the financial year?

I have absolutely no idea, we've had 'money' ITK so many times now that I pretty much ignore it. Wheelbarrows, bank drafts, overdraft facilities and even those machines where you put a coin in and see if you can make more coins topple out.

Thought he had potential but will back Conte.

Really alarming thing is how many players we have had to loan out rather than sell - this alone must have had considerable impact on the amount of cash we have been able to spend (and we have to go through a lot of this pain again at the end of the season).

Was the Herc post a cryptic? It didn't seem to make much sense at the time.

I really wish some of us would wake up. I’m not happy, and don’t buy everything the club wants us to believe. Sorry for being so blunt.

This thread is going to go nuclear when someone hits the jackpot on Herc's post.

Hard to know what to make of this window. If you take it at face value Richarlison, Perisic and Lenglet all improve the squad. Bissouma might improve the starting line up in time.

A little disappointing we didn't actually improve the first team that much. Would have liked a starting CB and another attacking option but that's mostly because we seemed to be trying and have come up short.

If we're only linked to Traore now I'd rather not spend and end up with next year's dead wood than buy him.

Which is what Conte said in his interview, this isn’t a one window fix, so we can assume he fully understands and accepts that we are where we are. The only issue he’s specific another, and particularly firm on, is the need to add more numbers if any of his first team leave, so he still has depth.
We now safely assume Winks, Reguillon, Ndombele and Lo Celso were not in that pool, so probably just Gil, Tanganga and the perhaps as yet unmentioned ‘expendable’ player ITK have alluded to. Now it looks like Tanganga isn’t going anywhere, so perhaps there are no players that fit Conte’s criteria, so keeping Japhet is the better move. Gil on the other hand seems Valencia are still pushing hard, so if we can work an alternative player in that works better, that may still be a goer. Odd that the YC rumours came out when Reguillon was almost done, did we try to work access to Carrasco into any Reguillon talks?
Above all I think it’s been a good windows, especially if Gil moves and Conte gets a player of his choice to replace, as he doesn’t seem quite as keen on utilising Gil. All non fancied players moved out, even if just on loan, its then down to them to make a success or failure of their situation.

Yes - I'm very suspicious of investment ITK.........not because it isn't correct, but it is the interpretation of how it is intended to be used and why they are looking to invest in the first place.......it was curious and made little sense to announce an investment of £150m to spend on players at the start of the transfer window, as all that does is make prospective sellers aware that we have money to spend.........I think it is far more likely to have been an accounting manipulation - perhaps to partially reduce last year's financial loss and provide some flex for UEFA FFP in future years (as I think UEFA work on a far stricter 3 year rolling review than the PL).

In the end, I’d rather us be intentional with our business instead of just reactionary. If we deemed the players we wanted for LCB and in attack aren’t available, I’m good with the plan of temporary solutions (Lenglet loan, Adama Traore on a favorable loan deal) than sinking substantial funds in bridge-type players. I know Conte and Paratici are marching to the beat or the same drum, so all is good in my mind. I also don’t view us as legitimate title challengers yet, so in that regard, I think our squad has improved and solidified our spot in the Top 4/cup challengers but with potential to be something special after another window or two.

It's only been possibly the best transfer window we've ever had. The only one I can compare with is when we sold Bale but not one where we've signed this many and kept our best players.
