Root is struggling, but a bit of a sacred cow in English cricket, , and should click at one point, in this series, but Bairstow is all over the place, so if he doesn’t perform in the second innings he will surely not make the 4th test. Could do with Brook back asap, but remains to be seen what frame of mind he is in.
if the middle order doesn’t get its act together we risk losing this series quite heavily.

it's the line between being aggressive and being reckless. we all love it when it comes off, but perhaps when you're 200 behind a notoriously difficult place to bat 4th might be a time to play the situation a bit better, especially when, in Roots case, he's short on runs.

I'm more disappointed in Bairstow who just seems devoid of technique and ideas at the moment.

plus we're letting possibly the worst international captain I've ever seen in Rohit, off far too lightly.
We let that Pat Cummins off last summer as well. Another very ordinary skipper

For all Stokes’s brilliance as a skipper (and I do think he’s been brilliant) this Bazball can seriously fuck you up!

Who got the team to bounce back from an average start to win the World Cup!
Here he is xx

Nah mate. Look he’s a top bloke, world class bowler, possibly the best around atm but he’s an ordinary skipper

They were absolute shit at the beginning of the WC, couldn’t be any worse - some of the players form improved during the tournament, (which lasted about a fucking year!!) and they got on a roll, with a bit of luck thrown in

Lol. TBH you are correct. He is a bit average.
Many here have been left scratching heads over some of his decisions.
And Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell are what the turnaround was!

Can i ask you guys why the hell Brook is not playing.
I presume he is injured cause he would be a shoe in over Bairstow.

Withdrew from selection - family illness. Hasn’t come out who it is exactly

Has there ever been a worse commentator than Nick Knight?

Sweet Jesus, the absolute drivel he comes out with. Imagine going for a beer with him

You’d need a rope and a stiff chair by the end of the evening

Jaiswal is perfect for it but they only went at 3.5 in the first innings and 4.5 with him scoring most of them in this innings - hardly Bazball

he's played really well, but looks all over the place when Anderson had the ball moving.

still, he's showing how to really take advantage of a good situation, which all of our batsmen, bar Duckett, failed to do.

From the sublime to the ridiculous. India’s performance with the bat in their second innings has only made the efforts of our middle order look even worse.

I don’t think there’s a future for Bairstow in this side. He looks all over the place with the bat. When he’s hitting the ball well, he looks incredible however he’s far too impulsive and doesn’t have the control somebody like Duckett has.

Root is also an interesting case. I’d maybe move him further down the batting order. Potentially between Stokes and Foakes. He looks uncomfortable trying to play the way “bazball” requires him to.

Root just needs to be told to go and play his own game and not get sucked into trying to do things that are a bit alien to him.
Take Duckett’s magnificent knock out of the equation and that was utterly pathetic, absolutely no way back from this position.

Let’s see where we are at close of play

Mind you, the way we bat 1 wicket can bring 5!

Would be great to be 130/0 at the close needing 400 tomorrow

India would be shitting themselves 🤞

in all seriousness, there's likely to be a point where we look like we're coasting, there is in almost all of our innings. the qeustion will just be when and how bad the brain fade will be!

England will go for this and fall 200 runs short I reckon. Rather than playing for a draw and be 1-1 in to the next test!

Ben Duckett aside, this has been a pretty pathetic performance from all involved. You wouldve thought Ashwin’s withdrawal would’ve strengthened England’s grip on the game. The opposite has happened.
