Barring the three drops SA could have run that closer, albeit India were quite clearly in a rush to get the job done.
Some serious lift off the wicket but then the third Indian wicket the ball just died, not a great advert for test cricket but some of the shots on offer were proper village!

My old cricket teammate in high school (Jamaica) is now ranked 6th in the ICC T20 Batting Rankings. If I hadn't moved to the U.S at 14, I'd like to think I'd be there with him. His name is Brandon King.
He was a year younger than me, and a year older than my brother. We were rivals in primary school (my brother and I won the national championship in our school's first year in the competition), then teammates for three years in high school before my family moved to the states.
We both made the Jamaica u15 national team back in 2007. Unfortunately I moved to the U.S with my family that same year and essentially ended my cricket career before it even started.
But it's great to see his career blossom given my brother and I have known him for almost two decades.

As much as my cricket career ended, and I loved and lived that sport as much as football, I had a great college football career here in the U.S, and probably should have went pro (goalkeeper).
I've told most of my "soccer" peers here in the U.S. that as good as I was at the sport, I was probably better at cricket.
I still speak with a lot of my friends/teammates from that cricket team in JA, and we're all so proud of Brandon.
sn: Although those fuckers decided to win the u19 high school national tournament two years after I left for the U.S, after I captained the u14 team for two years (and possibly would have captained that u19 team). Slightly annoying, but obviously happy for them.

Loved watching him bat, and drive the ball, in particular. Awesome hand/eye coordination, flashing blade. Feet not even in the same postcode as where the ball pitched; crack, 4. Stunning.

Think this has been discussed before. I have no problem with a home team preparing a pitch that suits their bowlers (or batters), but I do think that a strip should be prepared in the same way from one end to the other. So no, you cant scalp one spot, and leave the grass long at another because that's where your bowlers bowl, or where a particular batsman is weaker.
There will be a little natural variation anyway, and the pitch will wear over 5 days as the game progresses. You shouldn't be able to do different things to different parts of the same strip.

The ICC won't stand up to the ICB on this, and it'll go ahead with a pitch cut in such a way to give more than a favourable advantage. The grass should be the same length between the two bowling creases!!
