Right, what do we think then folks - keep things the same or shake up some of the personnel for perhaps some much needed rotation?

It's a slight quandary as injuries permitting, the side more or less picks itself but only Harry and the coaching staff can deduce whether to rest certain players, notably Parker, or not.

What must help us is having not only an extra days rest than West Brom, but they will have played two games in little over 48 hours which coupled with less tangible factors like them losing their match late on, so mentally and physically they may be completely drained for an encounter with us at WHL. Also it looked like Chris Brunt will be injured as he hobbled off in injury time so that's another boost for our cause.

All in all, I would change things slightly and rest Parker and VdV and bring in Pienaar and Kranjcar with also a possibility of bringing King back into the fold for Gallas which would leave us with;

Friedel

Walker Kaboul Gallas/King BAE

Pienaar Sandro

Kranjcar Modric Bale

Adebayor

Cannot see all 3 of Defoe, Kranjcar and Pienaar start

Can see Defoe and Dawson in play of Gallas and Sandro, but then where does VDV play ?

I want Modric back in CM for this one if Parker is injured.

Could even go to a 442 as Woy Hodgson will come for the draw and park his bus.

Something like:

Friedel

Walker King Kaboul BAE
Kranjcar Modric Sandro Bale

Defoe Adebayor

That's if VdV is knackered, although the majority of first teamers will have a week off as I'm sure not all of them will play against Cheltenham.

The likes of Kranjcar and Defoe to come on earlier than Harry's usual subs hopefully.

Parker to be rested, we should be able to win this whilst giving a couple of lads a break. Later in the game, I'd like to see Pienaar get some pitch time in place of Bale, tighten things up. If we are to keep up our form, some of the 'fringe' players need to find their feet, we cannot rely on the same 12-13 players season long.

Not convinced with Kranjcar on the right of a 442 myself but can see the merits of the side.

Harry was suggesting Lennon could play some part in this...

At best I would have thought a spot on the bench with perhaps a runout for him and Dawson in the Cup.

Good nonetheless though and provides us with more alternatives.

sub in defoe when VDV pulls up with the obligatory hamstring injury,... kranky in for pienaar when we need some last minute heroics, but kranky really is a better fit for VDV, but defoe is well in front of him in the pecking order.

bottom line -- king plays 90 minutes and we win,.... end of really

King Lennon Defoe for Gallas Parker VDV. 3 outfield changes will freshen the side up whilst keeping a certain degree of continuity. Then make the reverse changes for everton

We are playing a holiday period at home to a middling side who lost at home today. One change for us will likely to be an enforced one....Parker played on one leg for at least half an hour against Swansea and will be unlikely to start against WBA. Modric and Sandro centrally will do for me. Bale being wide left again and Lennon back to start on the right. Maybe Ledley in for Gallas. VDV to play half a game and maybe that off the bench, Defoe to start up top with Ade.
............Friedel
Walker Kaboul King BAE
Lennon Sandro Modric Bale
........Ade....Defoe

That is the side I think Harry will go with. However, I would like him to go with this:)

Friedel
Gallas King Kaboul
Walker...................Bale
.............Sandro
.......VDV.......Modric
.....Ade...........Defoe

Not likely as a starter I know:)

Wholesale rotation is a dangerous thing. I think the rotation issue is a little over blown re Redknapp. Over the course of a season, injuries and suspensions will account for quite a lot of rotation anyway. It's hard to rotate players like VDV and Adebayor because we just don't have squad players who can replicate what they do, which means not just rotating but changing a system maybe. We can't rotate our fb's because we don't have viable alternatives and the stand in for Sandro and Parker is Livermore, ok but not of the same standard. And our CB's have been rotating all season anyway, acceptable because we have three of very high calibre.

In this current incarnation (433 - line-up used last two) we now have two viable alternatives to VDV and Bale in Kranjcar and Lennon who would be acceptable. And one CB (King) who would be an acceptable rotation. Anyone else would really mean dropping down a class and/or changing shape and system.

So it's a tough call for Redknapp who is under immense pressure to maintain our position and get results.

I do think Kranjcar is a very viable option to rotate with a number of our players, and would even like to see him tried as relief for Adebayor for half an hour in a game maybe. I think he has the attributes to play a similar role. He's tall, strong, technically good, has a good finish on him and is mobile enough.

Apart from him getting more game time, and Lennon also being a viable option I don;t really see how Redknapp could easily rotate and not be compromised.
