Southampton were very physical last time.

I think Bentancur comes right in.
Bentancur was bought to strengthen our starting 11. It's mid season, he's fit so starts imo.
In Conte we trust though so whatever he decides.

I'd go with...

Lloris
Romero Dier Davies
Royal-With-Cheese PEH Bentancur Reguilon
Kulusevski Kane Son

...not convinced by either of our RWB options so Royal could quite easily be interchanged with Doherty and it would be fine.

For me Dier and Skipp would have replaced Sanchez and Hojbjerg if they were available.

So I guess the same team as the weekend but with potentially Bentacur starting. I'd play him instead of PEH - but I imagine he'll replace Winks.

I used to come on here and see the love in for Hoijberg and start to think I was watching a different game. Now I come on here, see the negativity towards Hoijberg and think I'm watching a different game. The pendulum has swung so far the opposite way on this one it's strange.

He's really not a great player but he's easily the best CM we have, easily. (I'm excluding Bentancur because we just can't judge yet).

One of about 6 guaranteed starters if fit.

I'm sure it'll be same as Saturday's lineup. Except a slim chance of Bentancur replacing Winks.

Hoping Bentacur for Winks and Bergwijn (or Kulu, but don't think he will start already) for Moura.

Think both Doherty/Sess could play as well but not both rotated.

Else it will pretty much be the same.

Would you play Son or Bergwijn on the right? Don't think either have had great games when on that side.

If Moura is being dropped it needs to be kulusevski that plays IMO.

Yeah not sure why Bergwijn would start. Pretty sure we bought Kulu to replace him and he'll be gone in the summer.

Because he was our best player in the last 2 games? (before Brighton)
Really? Nobody really covered themselves in glory vs Chelsea, Kane was pretty good but other than that the rest were unnoticable.

Vs Leicester we were fantastic in the first half, any one of a number of players could've been given the motm award. Bergwijn came on for 20 minutes and scored two goals at the end which was great for us but by no means our best player on the night.

But has he had a good game playing on the right? Or when was the last time son had a good game there?

If you replace a right sided player, surely you replace him with the other right sided player?

Or go 5-3-2 and add a CM instead.

Because I think Moura is poor and Kulu might not be ready to start yet.

Also Bergwijn deserved to start vs. Brighton after his last 2 games.
He's also not really playing on "the right". They're more inside forwards and his hold up play + his eye for a pass i more valueable than both Moura and Son running with the ball and in behind imo.

Also in AliG's predicted team (Son, Kane, Bergwijn)

Moura was really quite poor V Brighton, when he plays like that he's not worth a place in the side.

I wonder if Conte will go for a three man midfield, so essentially dropping Moura for Bentancur. Defence picks it self.

so then

Royal / Sanchez / Romero / Davies / Reguilon

Winks / PEH / Bentancur

With Kane and Son up top.

I am not sure Soton warrants a 3rd CM.

I'd rather play one of Lucas/Bergwijn/Kulusevski instead of Winks. Much better attacking options.

With Bentancur on the cover of the program, I kind of assume he will start. Otherwise, I would think Bentancur and Kulesevski on the cover would make more sense.
