What Hudd's expected return date? Is he back training yet?

Saw quotes from Harry yesterday saying he's having another operation on his ankle, I don't think we'll be seeing Hudd this side of Christmas.

Real shame regarding Gallas but there is no way I would risk Kaboul or Ekotto on Thursday night. Walker missed Stoke so would play him.

My team would be:

Cudicini

Walker
Corluka
Bassong
Townsend

Lennon
Livermore
Carroll
Kranjcar

GDS

Pav

That side is still more than strong enough, and maybe even Kane for Pav - last chance for him to get his finger out IMO.

That is the same back 5 who played in Greece. Good game for Lennon to make his return, Kranjcar's influence should be very handy as well.

I would have Defoe, Bale and VDV on the bench just in case.

Also if Sandro isn't going to start against Arsenal Harry might throw him into this game but I think Livermore and Carrol deserve to start.

Sandro might start against Arsenal, a little headache for Harry there.

Not ideal at all re Gallas and unfortunate for him to have this setback.

Now more than ever can't we risk an injury to Kaboul so he should definately be out and the same applies to BAE. I wouldn't have wanted to play Walker but if we had to rest someone against Arsenal it would be him over the two so I'd play the same back line as Mr Pink.

A tad early maybe, but with Arsenal looming on the Sunday I'd once again expect wholesale changes to the side. It looks like Gallas will be fit and that I'd also be inclined to give Lennon a run out so with that being said I'll go for something like this;

Gomes

Corluka Gallas Bassong Townsend

Carroll Livermore

Lennon Gio Falque

Kane

I think even if Pavlyuchenko recovers from his 'injury' I'd still be loathe to start him as he really has been insipid of late and we should look to the future of Kane rather than someone who seemingly has little future at the club.

yep id go with that. If Hudd is fit enough id give him an hour against the Shams

Annoying that we cut Woodgate and sold Palacios to buy Cahill...then didn't sign him!

Woodgate and Palacios wouldn't have had any effect on Cahill.

If we got Cahill, Bassong would have gone out on loan.

Sandro Parker

I don't think we should under-estimate Shamrock Rovers. Need our strongest team to ensure we can overcome this mighty obstacle. Even with that line-up I fear we might struggle.

Save Pav for the gooners. He's feared like deer face.

I'm detecting more than a hint of sarcasm. Rovers were on the cross bar challenge yesterday, Ricketts was doing a running commentary. They all missed, but to be fair, the end they were shooting in to is cursed. Only 2 peno's scored in that end since the ground opened, there was 2 missed during the Kazan game at that end.

------------cudicini

corluka--THudd--bassong--townsend

------livermore--carroll

falque------kranky----GDS

---------Pav

trying to be overly optimistic with THudd - injury table had him ready to go 09-24-11. This would allow walker a rest. last chance saloon for Pav - give him 45 min vs shamrock rovers to prove he should stay with the senor squad... if he still produces nothing, then give him the hook at halftime. kane very unconvincing so far IMHO. yet another opportunity for GDS to show signs of life as well. livermore continues to look good, so I look forward to him playing well on thursday. gomes is on the block for the january window now, so Spurs won't diminish his value by cup tying him now...

COYS!!

Hudd is supposedly seeing a specialist on Monday as his ankle injury won't heal

I am pretending that is not true until I read it from the official website :snooty:

ostrich approach on this one - just having a little fun since that would be terrible news for Spurs and THudd,... so I choose to pretend he's healthy and available for thursday

We may give vdv and sandro another run out even for 45 mins to get more match fit.

I guess it's just me that sees this as a potential banana skin

It's a big day for Shamrock Rovers and Irish football - they'll be mad keen to put one over on us.

Sandro needs game time/sharpness and to get his touch back so i would start with him with the hope of subbing him when the game is (hopefully) done.

To be honest our kids at home should win this - next Sunday is much more important.

So the same team as last time -

Cudicini, Walker, Bassong, Corluka, Townsend, Falque, Carroll, Livermore, Giovani, Kane, Pavlyuchenko

Sandro possibly for 30 mins as he needs more game time and might not start on Sunday (Parker and Mods to play in cent mid).

Walker might need to play at right back to allow Corluka to play in the middle.

Livermore Sandro

Falque GDS Kranjcar

Defoe

Underwhelmed by Kane so far, not to even mention Pav. Let Defoe score a few in this one. Also like to see Sandro up his fitness, and maybe some gametime for Lennon (if fit). Think we'd be clever just to make sure we win the home games and the away game in Ireland to make sure we get through...
