Llorente has to play this game imo.

Dortmund have 2 or 3 of their best back 4 out and they've really struggled in the air in their last few games in the league.

What games have you seen Aurier in recently that makes you think he should be 1st choice?

How can Poch continue to get this so wrong?

You see the thing is, if Aurier starts, I'll support him and won't post incessantly about how poor I think he is at every opportunity.

I personally think that KWP should be given more starts than what he has had so far.

If we want to really challenge the top sides in winning silverware, we need younger, pacier and better upgrades than aurier and Trippier - both of whom should be replaced within the next 2/3 TWs (but preferably not both within the same TW).

It’s a real dilemma tonight. I’d like to see a front three of Eriksen, Son and Lamela, but Dortmund’s big weakness is set pieces and crosses, so obviously Llorente will start. Just hope we don’t play the usual constipated football that happens as a result of his limited movement and slinging too many hopeful balls into the box.

Thankfully Poch has put Trippier in for Leicester and Aurier in for Dortmund, yes. We just about got away with it against Leicester but Dortmund would have ripped Trippier a new one. :)

To be fair Leicester tore him a new one, we were just fortunate that they couldn’t finish

Gazza, Aurier, Rose, Dier, KWP, Winks, Llorente
This is probably the best we can muster at this time, except Winks for Foyth obviously.

I have feeling we will go 5 at the back with Foyth will starting today & try to put a slightly defensive lineup
predicting back 5 : Aurier , Foyth, Sanchez, Toby, Jan

Positionally better gave me a real laugh there...also thinking that stronger in the tackle must mean gives away more fouls.

Exactly what I wrote, positionally meaning Aurier is in a better position to tackle/intercept the ball in defensive situation. He does not leave himself exposed so much like Trippier who on the over hand tend to be in much better positions in an attacking phase.

It boils down to what you prefer. Davies is probably a better defender than Rose but an all round package , Rose is far superior and there is not a question who should be starting between both. Between Aurier and Trippier the margin are less however defensively Aurier is much better, going forward you'd have to say Trippier however Aurier isn't bad , more adventurous than Davies for example.

It's messy tbh and we might in the long run need to replace our wingbacks.

This always gets said, but I don't agree with it. If anyone runs directly (with or without the ball) at Davies he is in big trouble. He also isn't great positionally sometimes and gets caught out more than Rose in soft situations.

The only area where I think he is superior is that in the heat of the moment he has a bit more composure in picking out a man, but then he doesn't get into those positions as nearly as much as Rose does to actually demonstrate it...
