Let's not take Wycombe Wanderers lightly and pick a good team please. As they showed back in 2017 as a League Two outfit at the Lane we should not be disregarding them one bit. I took them for granted then and was praying in front of my radio that I would be able to go to work on the Monday when we were 3-2 down with six regulation minutes left on the clock. Poch picked a team that struggled horribly with the task at hand and he needed to bring on the big guns...and Janssen! :

Match data
Spurs (4-2-3-1): Vorm, Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer (Dembele 60), Davies, Dier (c), Winks, Sissoko, Onomah (Dele 60), Nkoudou (Janssen 46), Son. Substitutes (not used): Pau Lopez, Walker, Walker-Peters, Wanyama.

Thanks to Dele and Sonny it all came right in the end with a 4-3 win. The highlights are a great watch:

I will have been at that game. God, I miss the Lane.

Gazzaniga
Tanganga Rodon Toby

Lamela
Lucas Vinicius
If no Dele then Winks in that position.

I respect your opinion, but it's dangerous under estimating any championship team, and has been proven in the past. Numerous times this season our fringe players have been very poor and had ro rely on the big names to help.
I'm not saying play no fringe or youngsters, just the main core of the team.
Yeah in a way such a big gap between Sheffield and Liverpool you want the core kept sharp. Probably can see Ndombele, Kane and Son playing a small part.

I want to give Kane and Son 45 minutes because we have such a large gap before the Liv game.

Need the right planning for this game, best chance of a break for some of our key players but also need to respect the tie to avoid and difficult scenarios. I also feel huge changes don't work as you need certain players involved to keep momentum and performance levels.

Not 100% on the team exactly, however Lloris, Dier, PEH & Kane I don't want in the team, give them a rest.

Would probably have Hart, Doherty, Tanganga, Winks, Vinicius down as certain starters.

Would keep Tanguy and Son/Stevie in to keep some first team quality in the team, think both Stevie and Son could both use a goal so happy with either.

Then a decision on the squad players (Bale, Lamela, Lucas) to make up two other spots in the forwards. Havent included Dele as I think he is on the move.

Only other calls are Toby/Sanchez/Rodon, if we are sticking with the same team for Liverpool that started yesterday I'd play Toby, if Toby is going to come back in against Pool I'd play Rodon. Davies or Reguillon I'd probably play Reguillon and bring Davies on later in the game.

With the ability of having 9 players on the bench, plus 5 subs, I don’t see why Jose wouldn’t rotate heavily for this one. If shit has taken a hard left before half time, we can adjust with three or four off the bench.

Hence, I’d go with:

Hart

Doherty
Rodon
Sanchez
Tanganga
Reg

Sissoko
Winks

Bale
Vinny
Moura

Subs: Harry, Sonny, Stevie B, Lamela, Ndombele, Dier, Aurier, White, Scarlett

Where is Cirkin? Really expected to see something of him by now.
He’s currently in an extremely difficult period.

He’s been injured and is now unfortunately grieving the loss of his father. As a young player he may be taking a bereavement leave. Hope he is doing alright.

Wouldn’t mind a first half of:
Hart
Doherty Tanganga Rodon Davies
Ndombele Hojbjerg
Dele
Lamela Vinicius Bale

Would like to see how that 3 in midfield get on with a possible look at it being a starting 3 in the league as Ndombele’s fitness is now there and then rest a few at ht. Also wouldn’t mind Bale having a crack on the left with Davies behind him and give Bale instructions to take on his man and get to the byline. Let’s see how much pace he’s really lost.

Hart
Doherty Tanganga Rodon Davies
Winks Sissoko
Bale Alli Moura
Vinicius

Subs
Gazziniga Sanchez Reguilon White Devine Ndombele Son Kane Scarlett
Actually now thinking of a team more like this:

-----------------Hart--------------------
-----Sanchez Rodon Tanganga------
Doherty-------------------------Davies
-------------Winks-----Alli-------------
------Bale--------------------Moura---
------------------Vinicius--------------

Subs
Gazziniga Dier Reguilon Cirkin Devine Ndombele Son Kane Scarlett

That'll give us enough going forward with an extra CB to handle their direct football

————————Lloris————————

Doherty——Toby———-Dier——Davies

————Hjojberg—-Winks/Sissoko——-

——————-NDombele———————

—Moura———-Kane————Son——

We have a week off, I imagine Jose will not want players off the pace after not playing for 12 days before Liverpool .

Jose also keeps the spine of Lloris, Dier, Hjojberg and Kane in place the majority of the time.

Finally 5 subs so win the game first and then rotate

Should be more than enough quality there

This team all day long. I know the line about the next game is all that matters BUT giving our first team players a much needed rest is crucial with the amount of games played. Plus with this game being on Monday and the Liverpool game being Thursday.

Liverpool won’t get the luxury of resting players against Man Utd and we need any edge we can get.
