My wayyyyyyyyy too early team:
Lloris
Dier Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Stambouli Capoue
Lamela Dembele Eriksen
Soldado

The bus. Park it. And try to hit them on the counter. Chadli and Mason to come on late if we need to open things up a bit to score. Ade did nothing to help out the team the last team against Arsenal when we defended most of the match and although he was better today he still wasnt active or good enough, so he gets benched for this one.

Might be tempted to go 5 at the back in a 5-4-1 and start Fazio over Dembele or Stambouli.

I would play Chiriches to deal with Agueros speed.
I've been reading your posts with a mixture of amusement and bemusement in recent weeks, SL84, and I've come to the conclusion that you're the new @jamesc0le - utterly bonkers but nonetheless an entertaining read.

I would think the game plan will be much the same as the Goons game with players behind the ball rather then the high pressing game.

I would expect the line up to be very similar to the Saints game.

This one scares me. Aguero is frightening, an absolutely amazing striker. I'm not sure how we can deal with his movement, so we should try to restrict his opportunities.

As well as Mason has played, I'd be tempted to play Stambouli and get him to man mark Silva (who creates so much for City) so that Aguero's chances are limited.

I'd set up like this:

Lloris

Naughton Kaboul Vertonghen Rose

Capoue Stambouli

Lamela Eriksen Chadli

Adebayor
Would take a draw and run. City are an extremely good team.

With some players potentially arriving back at club late in week with only a day or two training before the game it wouldn't surprise me at all if we put out a somewhat surprising starting 11.
Also have to bare in mind the EL game we have to get 3pts on following Thursday.
Something like this wouldn't surprise me:

Man City:
Lloris
Dier Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Stambouli Capoue Mason
Eriksen Soldado Chadli

EL game:
Lloris
Dier Fazio Vertonghen Davies
Bentaleb Dembele
Lamela Paulinho Kane
Adebayor

First name in team sheet - Lloris
Second - Mason

Mason is playing like a seasoned Pro - reality is he has played 10 championship game in 5 season after turning pro. His skill level & mainly the composure is there for all to see. There were couple of passes, in yesterdays game was stand out - one where he digs the ball at his feet & passes to Eriksen at left wing - fantastic vision & execution. It may not be a exceptional skill comparing to likes of Silva or Modric or Fabregas, but it is certainly something our current CMs don't possess. He is able to turn defence into attack with couple of quick passes. He is number 1 outfielder pick on current showings.

My team vs City :

Assuming Naughton is out injured...

Lloris,
Dier, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose
Capoue, Mason,
Lamela, Chadli, Eriksen
Kane

Kane ahead of Adebayor. Kane is the only performing Striker at the moment. So, I would start him ahead of Ade.

Kane has being doing well as support striker, the 2 games he has played as striker, 1 he scored but didn't play that well (Limassol)and the other he was shocking (Partizan).

I think Kane will turn into a good striker but at the moment, I don't think he is ready start ahead of the 3 AMC's. I want to see Soldado given a chance.

I am all for giving Soldado a chance. Against City though, we need someone who is consistent in terms of holding up the ball, yet make the runs. Against Partizan, most others in attack were shocking.

Kane is the only one to show any kind of consistency.

Another option, is to play Chadli as lone striker & play Townsend for Ade. This would mean, 4-3-3 and could solidify middle of the park. We could play the way we played Arsenal - defend & counter attack. Pace of Townsend, Lamela & Chadli could come in handy. But then, it would be a extreme risk to cast Chadli as lone man striker.

Best solution is of course, stick to Adebayor & hope he has the right attitude on the day.
