You put Trippier in despite the fact that Walker has clearly been the better player.
Leaving Eriksen out of the team after his last performance is criminal. He is our best player and he should be starting.
I think my reasons for doing so are perfectly valid in context.

You're splitting up the defensive that has served us so well this season. Doesn't really make sense
It does when you actually read the reason why I've done it. Which I've posted twice in this thread. It's like I've put verts in attack for all the hysteria about it. Jesus.

Effectively, I've put him just in front of toby and in between toby and wimmer.

Really don't think Vertonghen has anywhere near the ability to be able to play the Dier role.

Lloris
Walker Toby Jan Davies
Mason Bentaleb
Lamela Alli Eriksen
Kane

Bench: Vorm, Wimmer, Rose, Dembele, Carroll, Chadli, Clinton

If one of Mason/Bentaleb are not fit, I'd drop Alli to the CM2, and bring Chadli on in AM3 (If Son is fit, he starts, but I am assuming he will not be fit). If both Mason and Bentaleb are out, I'd start Winks - and tell him to play a more defensive role - sit in front of the back 4, and don't get caught up field - and drop Alli back to the CM2.

I like what Clinton brings, but for now, I think he is best utilized as a sub going at tired fullbacks.

Reads the game well and has good distribution, maybe he's not as physical as Dier though.
It's the mobility as much as his physicality I think. Just don't think that Vertonghen brings that.

It's a good, attacking team with a solid spine, pace, and threat in it for a home game against that lot.

I've laid out my reasoning in this thread; so those who find it 'tickling' should be super eager to pick it to pieces. No?

Still waiting....

lol we all gave up trying to educate you a long time ago man

Plus, no reason to break up our best CB partnership. Better to keep, Toby-Jan, and play a new CM, than have a new CM and a new CB pairing.

None of us wanted Dier in CDM at the start of the season and now he's out we're trying to find ways to put our other CB's in the CDM role. You crazy kids.

With that said, i do understand the thought process but I think that we have to look to stick to the CM's we have and just be disciplined. We can out-muscle their midfield considering that they don't have Henderson in there and instead it's the likes of Joe Allen and Coutinho.

Back 4 picks itself but would certainly start Rose at LB.

Attacking 4 picks itself in respect of Kane, Lamela, Eriksen. Son adds to that if fit.

CM is the trick. If they can both get back then I'd be tempted to start Mason and Nabil together. However, I dont see Poch dropping Alli anytime soon and nor should he really. I think he may lean towards pairing him with Nabil to be the CDM between them.

Think these calls for Vetonghen in central midfield are madness.

From my pov it was a fleeting thought around keeping that solid defence considering the injuries we have BUT didn't everyone say the same about dier during preseason.

Not everyone, no.

It's also quite a different situation. Dier was identified in pre season as playing there, they then played him in that position all pre-season, and thus I would guess in training.

This would be dropping someone in who hasn't played there for us at all, with minimal preparation for the role.

ahem...I would not say "none of us"....some of us recognized his potential in pre-season...(admittedly the rest of you lot gave me a slew of negative ratings for suggesting it might work out....)

To be fair Verts has played there before and he's smart enough to play and adapt to different roles on the pitch, it's not as if we're talking about Lamela playing as a right back :D

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Winks Alli
Lamela Eriksen Son
Kane

Vorm Wimmer Trippier Bentaleb Mason Dembele Chadli
All injury permitting of course. If Son is injured then put in Chadli, Townsend on the bench. If Bentaleb and Mason are injured then put in Rose and Carroll. Under no circumstances allow Fazio anywhere near the squad. Simples!

Winks to make his full début against Pool, with Mason Dembele and Bentaleb sat on the bench :ROFLMAO:
