We didnt throw anything, monaco were better than us.

Weve took the europa pretty serious in previous seasons and never got past the quarters... why? Because there are teams that are better than us in the competition.
Not always true, a lot of the time spurs played weakened teams compared to other teams who went full strength. Some take it more seriously than others why do you think Sevilla has won it so much but not progressed much in their own league. They have a smaller squad and prioritise europa league first.

The next step for spurs will be to expand the squad further so that when we play premier league and champions league that the quality doesn't drop. I don't think our squad is there yet.

Think we should try to carry on the momentum from Swansea as well as rest some key players.

Lloris
Walker-Peters Alderweireld Wimmer Davies
Dembele Winks
Eriksen Onomah Son
Kane

Subs: Vorm, Walker, Dier, Carter-Vickers, N'Koudou, Sissoko, Vertonghen

Get Alderweireld off when the sway of the match is decided (hopefully) for Carter-Vickers, get Dier on in midfield for Onomah (have him drop behind Dembele and Winks), get a winger on for Kane, Sonny up top.

I really don't know what to expect from our team tonight.

As I've said elsewhere, I'd love us to take the Europa League seriously as playing at our best I genuinely think we could win it.

But if we're not going to take it seriously, as with the Dortmund debacle last season, then there's no point being in it.

Personally I'd love us to show some balls at Wembley tonight and keep the momentum up from the weekend, but it's a very big game on Sunday so I can see why we might rest people.

Yeah I'd be disappointed with us just throwing on a weakened side, but then I'd also be annoyed if key players got injured in a fixture which no longer really matters.

Think this game could be an opportunity for the likes of Janssen, Nkoudou, Sissoko, Winks, Onomah, Edwards to get some good game time against a challenging side.

With Janssen out would like us to start with son and bring him of after 50/60 mins for Kane or a youngster depending on how the game is going

I was expecting
To be able to go but my wife has had a minor op today and it turns out I need to stay at home.

Not a bad offer is it! Shame to see them go to waste.

Anyone? Can meet you at Walthamstow station or somewhere on Forest Road.

This the perfect opportunity to give fringe players a run and see if they can step up when called upon. With games coming thick and fast we need to know who can be counted upon. The likes of CCV need a run out and will only enhance squad moral.

i disagree, because we didnt put our strongest line up on the field. yes monaco was better but it was against a semi rotated squad.

Lloris; Trippier, Dier, Wimmer, Rose; Wanyama, Dembélé; Winks, Alli, Son; Kane

Subs: Vorm, Vertonghen, Walker, Eriksen, Sissoko, Nkoudou, Janssen.

i understand pochettino wanted to save vertonghen and walker for the chelsea game, but imo that was a poor decision to make for an elimination game.

Thats not throwing, its just showing out recruitment hasn't been good enough to compete across 2 major competitions. Nobody can play the strongest 11 week in week out, which is why you have 25 squad players.

The only person in that team you could argue doesnt have first team experience is winks, every single other player has played major roles in our first team last year.

If any 1st 11 player plays Im gonna be seriously pissed off.

so will that mean another new knee jerking thread is going to be started, that will more likely be closed by the time it reaches 3 pages?

I'm expecting a mix

Vorm

Trippier
Toby
Wimmer
Jan

Dier
Winks

Sissoko
Onamah
Eriksen

Kane or Son

Considering poch has not even once played his strongest team in the champions league I will be both amazed and mightily pissed off if he picks that line up!

mainly because he hasn't been able to field our strongest team, all of have missed out due to knocks, lack of fitness or injuries

Toby, Walker, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Lamela, and Kane

Yesterday shows what it's like to have a week between games so I think it's best if we don't have Thursday night footie. Put out the reserves and the kids.
Today's performance wouldn't be as bad if Poch had of rested out first teamers mid week
