Yep I agree with this.

It's amazing how happy we were (me included) with the strength of our squad at the end of the summer window, because - looking at it now - that second string looks weak as anything.

But, yes, we have to play that team against CSKA.

If the Scum showed anything around the time they built that steaming dog turd at Ashburton Grove it's that life is a hell of a lot easier if you are regularly in the CL.

Now we have been knocked out of it for this season, so the priority has to be top 4 or higher in the PL.

If we're not in the Europa then maybe we can have a crack at the FA Cup, too.

It's clear though that our squad just won't cope with the amount of travelling and games that the Europa will bring. It's also no coincidence that we've always had our best period the past few years at the time of the season when we have no European football.

Toby needs a game before OT to get him a little match fitter, I still think Eriksen needs to play himself into a little bit of form and I think we should play Ogilvie who is our only other recognised LB available.

A fine line between building momentum and planning for United match. There is still points and prize money for the CL as well as the desire to go out of the competition on a higher feeling than writing it off. A full 2nd string side doesn't do those players involved much good as they could just be on a hiding to nothing. Some rotation but we need to keep the perspective of the club in mind as it has a bearing on attracting players too.

Not particularly keen on wholesale changes, would like to see Nkoudou get 90 mins under his belt more than anything. Stick Winks in and maybe give Onomah some minutes in his actual position.

It would be nice to give Alli and Eriksen another whole week. I'd also play Janssen to see if he can get some confidence.

Think those expecting a 2nd string are in for a surprise. I expect a strong team - Poch will want to be in the Europa League, so 2 or 3 changes max.

He naturally fills holes when fullbacks go up field, Wanyama i feel reacts to situations.
The Dier / Dembele base of last year was what we built our whole season around and have not seen the same dynamics so far this year.
