Winning the group would be really nice, but with a very busy period in the PL coming up, I don't want some players near the team.

---------------------Hart------------------
Doherty-----Sanchez---Tanganga---Davies
-------------Winks-------Lo Celso------------
-----Bale-----------Dele-----------Lucas---
-------------------Vinicius-------------------

Subs: Austin, Dier, Aurier, Reguilon, Sissoko, Lo Celso, White, Lamela (Whiteman), Bergwijn, Clarke, Scarlett, Devine

Hojbjerg, Kane, Son and Toby should put their feet up.

Don't want any of Son, Kane, PEH, Hugo, Reguillon risked for this game. Just want a good performances and to see the likes of Bale, Dele, Winks, Vinicius get minutes. We have the Palace game Sunday and Liverpool game Wednesday and I'd rather we get points there and finish 2nd in the EL.

Would swap Japhet and Davinson as Sanchez and Doherty on the same side is just another recipe for mistakes.

Tricky because we have Palace on the Sunday and then Liverpool the Wednesday after, makes me want to try and balance the teams a bit better so some are fresh for the game for Liv. I'd probably not play Gio, Bale and Doherty in this one so that they can play Sunday allowing Aurier, Bergwijn and Ndombele some freshness for the game at anfield.

i agree. Maybe play Toby or Dier too with Tanganga so they are also fresh and have Rodon partner the other v palace

Yes I knew I forgot 1, rest Alder on Sunday and give Rodon another game. Usually I'd be hesitant to risk prem points just because we have the likes of Liverpool around the corner but the quality with which we have in reserve the dip isn't as significant. The only one I'm hesitant about is dropping Aurier such is the quality he's been playing at recently but we have the option of Doherty and Tanganga in that role.

Scarlett scored another hat trick at the weekend. I don't think you can compare u18 football obviously but this would be a great chance to give him more than 10 minutes with no pressure. No Kane, No Son, No Hojbjerg, No Reguilon, and one of dier and Alder so we don't have a leaderless defence.

Aurier was almost out vs. Arsenal but came through last minute. Should definitely rest all week and potentially not even play before Liverpool.

Play the kids & whoever needs minutes. Hart, Doherty, Sanchez, Tanganga, Cirkin, Winks, Dele, Clarke, Bale, Lucas, Vinicius

White, Devine & Scarlett off the bench.

I think we have to approach this match strategically. We have qualified, that is a fact.

Game theory wise, you’d expect that we need to play our first team or at least close to it vs. whoever we face in the Knockouts in February. Obviously facing a weaker side would be more advantageous to us, but we would still play the likes of PEH, Kane, Son, Toby, etc. in EL in February no matter what IMO.

So, then the question is about maximizing our utility in December. Son, PEH, and Lo Celso all played a lot last Thursday and most of Sunday. We absolutely must have Hojbjerg and Son at full fitness for Liverpool and Leicester on the 16th and 19th. I wouldn’t risk them against Antwerp, not when we’ve qualified already.

There’s the other looming question of 7 matches in 20 days in that, we need to start getting Dele, Winks, Lucas, Bale, and Vinicius into form because they will be hugely needed for rotation. I would like to see a mix of players to get them acclimated with a first team like side..

Is Rodon EL eligible? No-one has him in their team... If he is, I would start him over Sanchez. If not, then this message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

I honestly do not care about winning the group. To win the Europa league we need to beat the best anyway and anyone we are drawn against in the knockouts will be equal or worse than us. But nobody will be terrible so starters are playing that games either way.

With the short turn around between Palace and Liverpool, I don’t think we should risk anyone in this game.

Gazzaniga
Doherty Tanganga Sanchez Davies
Winks Sissoko
Bale Dele Lucas
Vini

I put Sissoko because I don’t think Gio can play another 90 minutes this week and Ndombele might be out against Palace so Gio will be needed.

We can't/shouldn't be scared of playing CL dropouts or EL group winners. Let's play the second string, we need to focus on the league now.
