I think Winks gives that outlet from the Loris to the FBs recycling. Moussa next to him. Push Eriksen up where he can do damage. Our critical path is Winks to Eriksen to Dele or Kane.

FFS Poch let’s not adopt the press without proper defensive cover because they will kill us.

We need one of the following:
-A proper DM
-Trippier not in a back 4
-3 at the back

Ok so I really want us to win this game - it would be a dream to go to the semi's and then finals where we destroy those ****s in Liverscum... so im hoping we go all out attack destroy their defence get a 4-0 lead back to theirs...

They are beatable. They will always give you chances. I'm torn on whether we go 2 or 3 at the back. I'm not sure that being too defensive is our best strategy. I say go for it at home with a 4231.

Trippier is the worry. I would even consider playing Mousa at RB if we had somebody who could play in the middle alongside winks.

It has to be lloris, trips, toby, Jan, rose, mousa, winks, deli, son, eriksen, kane.

I really have a feeling we will do them at home.

Tough game this one but they are not invincible. It comes down to mentality and who wants it more on the night. I think if we get the first one they will be under pressure. COYS!!!

City are on cruise control at the moment, and I feel as if this will be their undoing on the night. They will take this game casually assuming we won't be up for the tie. If you've breezed through a few games as a team it's kind of hard to turn the light on when you face a team that can really challenge you.

Let's see how the boys fair, I'd be happy winning the home leg and if we go out at the Etihad we have one win to be proud of. But we have to go all out at home tomorrow night, give them something to worry about in the second leg. Maybe the nerves will unsettle them in the second leg.

Anticipating the same line up as against CP. Alli looked good in the deeper role in midfield.

Aurier will probably be out due to personal reasons. So trippier will have to do a job.

Wouldn't mind seeing a front 3 of son , kane and moura at some point as I feel the pace could trouble city.

Hopefully winks is ready to go!

I think the way to go is to try and out number city in midfield and try to play on the counter. Force them backwards and obviously be clincial as I don’t think we’ll have too many chances.
4-4-2 (Diamond shaped midfield)
Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose

I can see us going for the diamond too. And I think it might make sense given they are a passing team that will look to go through the middle and we can trouble them, like we always seem to, with Son in a forward position.

I'm expecting Poch to play 3 at the back, with Sanchez covering for Trippier against Sane. Dele will probably sit deeper again as he did against Palace.

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Toby Vertonghen Rose
Sissoko Dele
Eriksen Son
Kane

Bleh, I'm almost blase about this game. Man City are a cheat club, they're likely to win a quadruple this season... something once only achievable in the realms of Championship Manager.

I hope the likes of Dier/Rose/Sissoko are available... as long as we kick the living tar out of them, I'm so not fussed about games against oil clubs.

Yep. I’d rather stick anyone else at RB here. Trippier gets embarrased every time out against City and is single handedly responsible for their goals. It’s negligent to start him against them now. He could play vs Huddersfield but that should be his only appearance in the next 4 games. Trippier against City is the stuff of nightmares.

I think City's players seem to have gone under the radar this season in the "making massive mistakes and or errors during a game" columns. I think it is about time some of their players start stepping up to the plate in this respect, especially as we enter the quarter final of the champions league.

My mate at work told me today that during the Brighton game, citys players were being man marked, a player for a player even if it meant the city player was dragging the Brighton player radically out of position. I wonder if we will see this tactic adopted by other clubs as the season progresses ?
