No doubt over the next 2 months we will have to put up with the Modric to Chelsea stories again, I'm hoping Levy offers him a new improved contract this month and Luka accepts it, Probably the only way to get rid of this annoyance that is Chelsea :snooty:

Selling Luka now would be suicidal for our League chances and he still has 4 years on his current deal so why should we sell. 4 years is a long time in football and who knows where Tottenham will be by then.

Frank Lampard, no thanks, he is past his best and not a patch on Modric, can't see any club wanting to take Fat Frank off Chelski's hands.

We're better than chavski so why would he want to downgrade? Staying was the best thing for him.

Hahah Lampard for Modric? NEVER in a million years would I want that to happen.

Not even Lampard + 40million would be enough.

SERIOUSLY speaking and being as realistic as can be, I honestly think we have one of the top 3 best midfielders in the world in Modric. There are probably only one or two players I'd even consider swapping him for and they both play for Barca.

Did you see his passing vision today? His ability to hold on to the ball and stroke it from side to side? It's absolutely fucking magical. I cannot recall being as awestruck from watching a midfielder before...

Not jus about the cash, its also about winning titles, champions league playing time etc... So at the moment it looks more likely that he will do that with us rather than Chelsea... as long as we keep winning, the best players will stay/come to us.

Money is of course a factor, but it is not the only one...

Its not just about the cash, well it shouldn't be....more often than not with many a player it is though sadly.

Why was Luka so hell bent on going to them this summer anyway? They had looked nothing like the force they had been before, they weren't in a much better position than us then either

Ok they had CL football but what else made them a better team to be at other than us?

They had an ageing and increasingly disjointed squad, and made silly transfers that hadn't come off and had just replaced their manager destroying any stability they may have had.

We were a younger more of an up and coming squad and had just heavily highlighted our potential with a great run in the CL

We had a good manager who was still in place and a squad of players who already looked to have the potential to challenge with just one or two key additions, not to mention the fact the squad would now have the experience of playing together for a whole year (or more in most cases)

In my opinion even in the summer Chelsea were not a particular upgrade on us in footballing terms yet he still seemed to want to jump ship pretty badly (to the extent he basically refused to play with his head in the wrong place over the potential transfer :bang:)

Now although I don't know this and cannot prove this, I personally suspect the main motivation was the pay rise he would receive and I also suspect that if they come offering a similar pay rise in Jan or even next summer and Luka thinks he can get the move he will push for it (although I hope at least that Levy's strong position on this matter will make him and his advisers realise it isn't going to happen and he will shut up and get on with the task in hand)

As soon as you have a good squad enjoying some success, it's to be expected that other teams will want to lure our best players away.

It's the blend and understanding between players that works, rather than individual skills and talent and I'd hate to see the strong players in our present squad go as it's really beginning to work for us.

I hope our best players realise it too. Another season or two and the sky could well be the limit.

We've seen players leave in the past - Berbatov and Keane for example - whose careers didn't quite live up to their expectations when they left us, however talented they were. It takes time to recover and rebuild when key players go.

We can certainly afford to let some players go and we probably all know who they are and, indeed, they may well flourish elsewhere.

Lampard? That has to be a joke surely... No thanks.

i would argue that modric would have provided torres with 30 [plus chances giving probably at least 10 goals so far thios season - modric would be ideal for torres thats why they want him so badly

Lampard has been in good form, they would be in a hole without him.....still no chance of us taking him instead of luka.

If Chelsea fail to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League then will they even come back in for him?

Based on this seasons form we have a better chance of finishing in the top 4, including winning the league, than they do.

Good. If he's demanding that much in wages I don't want him.

Charles Kabore - never heard of him? Who is he?

Not bothered about Cahill anymore. Don't really need him and there must be cheaper options out there for us. I'm sure Harry will find one anyway.
