Thanks for the info, I've only seen a little of lacazette but good to know he has all those key attributes (coming from you -someone who has spent some time watching him properly)

Maybe he has told us he isn't interested in Spurs, he wants a bigger move. The interest from west ham and Everton are most likely going to be laughed off by the player you'd think.

Hoping we are keeping it hush hush and under wraps as to not alert other clubs! ;)

I think we were linked to him around this time last year, but back then, it was thought that our relationship with Lyon wouldn't make a move feasible. Since then, we've done the deal for Njie, so there clearly is a relationship there if Levy and Aulas can come to terms.

The thing about Lacazette is that he not only passes the eye test, but has very good advanced statistics. If you go to Squawka and compare him to Kane, Aguero, Berahino, and Batshuayi, you'll see him and Kane create more chances per 90 (by far) than the other 3 strikers (Lacazette slightly more than Kane), him and Kane play more forward and key passes than the other three (by far), and Lacazette wins more tackles and aerial duels per 90 than all of them by a significant margin. Granted, it's in Ligue 1, so it's not an exact comparison to the Prem, but the two signings of last summer, Payet and Kante, both came from that Ligue and had similarly impressive advanced statistics.

The other thing is, Lacazette, alongside Kane, are a part of an ultra elite group of players in Europe's top 5 leagues that have scored 40 league goals since the beginning of last season. That list in its entirety:

Lewandowski, Kane, Lacazette, Ibrahimovic, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Higuain, Neymar, Griezmann, Aguero.

So matching him with Kane would be a serious boost to our already potent attack.

Very informative, cheers

Obviously lacazette is the only other attainable one (still questionable) for a club like Spurs too.

I'm sold on him, now who's going to call Daniel?

There are some really good posts on here, especially those around detailed rotation and playing time.

However I'd like to add another perspective and that is simply:

"who can cut it at champions league level?"

I'm not saying we need a team full of Harry Kanes, but for me there are several players that simply cannot cut it even at the squad level when we look towards next season and champions league.

The can't cut it players for me are: Carroll, Clinton and Fazio.

I don't think we need to replace Carroll as we have Mason who could play a lot more games for us next season.

I do think we need a new CB to replace Fazio, personally I would look for a cheap player towards the end of their career is who is happy with only the occasional appearance but who can still be relied upon defensively.

I think replacing Clinton could provide us with a serious edge in attack that we've missed a bit this season and will take some pressure off Kane.

Then we need a ST as backup to Kane and a DM as backup to Dier.

So for me 4 players in total, but 3 if them to be fringe/rotation players costing max. £8m each.

Spend £20-25m on Clintons replacement and for me that would be a perfect summer.
Give me strength

It's like no one actually takes any notice what happens when teams stupidly overload on new players.

It's pretty clear what's going to happen, We're going to strengthen up front and possibly DMF, all this wishful thinking of bringing in all these players when we have a settled and young team plus players who we haven't even seen who will come into the side next season is just way off the mark.
Last time it was seven players way too much. Poch hasn't just thrown players in he has worked with them in training till they're ready. Generally people are agreeing we need three signings not to much really if they happen.

We miss a lot of chances and don't create enough clear cut chances (1 on 1 with the keeper).

It's a mixture of poor finishing, lack of awareness and a lack of urgency in the final third.

The finishing could certainly be better, but I absolutely agree on the not creating enough clear cut chances. We just do not work the ball into the top of the box enough, and I think we still seem to struggle at working into and through tight spaces. We have some good creativity and ingenuity, and a brilliant finisher, but we still lack someone aggressive with the ability to make things happen with the ball at his feet.

Son looked like he could provide this at the beginning, but it seems he needs to pick back up his confidence. N'jie looks like one for the future. Is a shame we spent so much for this problem to not immediately be solved, but it happens. Regardless, we appear to me to still badly need a truly dynamic option to bring out the strong qualities from the rest of our attackers.

A must are a creative, game dictating midfielder and a striker. Which players these might be I will leave others who have a better knowledge to suggest but I think these are the crucial positions that need to be addressed.

I wouldn't get to concerned with the Lacazette to West Ham/Everton rumours, there is no chance he goes to a team outside CL unless someone like Chelsea offer to overpay him. I would think if we were interested we would have a shot but at the same time I think he might be a little to rich for Levy's blood. He could easily go to one of the top 6 in Europe who would all pay more then us. I 100% agree he would be ideal for us tho.

Players who have experience of PLO or Championship are far more of a banker to perform in the season after they join that those from overseas leagues - Lamela took 2 seasons, Son more than one season....even Modric took 18 months.

So Pritchard is more bankable than most of the wishlist that most are suggesting.....and he already knows most of the Spurs squad and how they play so 'bedding' in is far more easy

We need pace

We need a pacey centre forward who can also play wide and another skilfull playmaker for the starting line up ONLY

But we also need better cover for the following players;
Alderweireld
Dier
Dembele
Kane

IN
(Toby cover), (Dier cover), (Dembele cover), Dembele (Kane cover), Coutinho and Lacazette

6 IN but only 2 straight into the first team so not so drastic

Listen to offers for the following players; Fazio, Yedlin, Carroll, Mason, Benteleb, Chadli

JOB DONE and a very solid squad of 24
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Alli Dier Dembele
Coutinho Kane Lacazette

Subs: Vorm Wimmer Trippier (Dier cover) Eriksen Lamela Son:
Reserve: Davies (Toby cover) (dembele cover) Pritchard N'jie Dembele

I love it every time somebody repeats that myth.

I've never said that at all, I think we should and will buy 2-3 players.

Expecting 5 or 6 is just ridiculous though. Especially with strong academy products knocking on the door.

I don't think many / any of the posts are calling for 5 or 6 players, at least not with any conviction.

I think 4 signings would make us properyl ready for the CL, even then though one of those is the striker backup we should all ready have and in total 3 of those 4 were "minor" signings to replace inadequate rotation players that we currently have.

Put it this way, we would be stupid not to look for possible upgrades by transfers prior to a CL season.
We would be equally stupid not to follow up on a transfer strategy that finally seems to be working, even if we manage to clone Pritchard and fuse Mason, Bentaleb & Carroll into one.

For the love of Spurs

Carrol and Mason ain't really central
Midfielders they should be used in more attacking positions. We only really have Dier and Dembele for central midand if Bentaleb gets himself sorted him to. Would love us to go For Witsel and Tielemens, then we could relax a bit more when/if Dembele and Dier are not fit.

Other than that Batshuayi up front and someone similar to Coutinho would be great. We are close to a great squad, just a few more good buys in the summer and we are there.

You don't seriously think we have any chance of signing Coutinho do you?
