Folks,

It has been and looks like being a truly fantastic TW with more signings set to come in over the next couple of days added to the exceptional signings already.

Assuming Lamela, Eriksen and Chiriches all arrive, what is our strongest possible starting 11 if everyone is fit and available?

Lloris

Walker Vertonghen Kaboul Rose

Paulinho Capoue

Townsend Eriksen Lamela

Soldado

Subs: Friedel, Dawson, Sandro, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Lennon, Defoe

Missing out: Holtby, Chiriches, Naughton, Adebayor, Assou Ekotto, Gomes

I think we will initially go with 4-3-3. I don't think we will give up the midfield superiority that we enjoy with ball winning ability and sheer physicality. Lamela to come in on the right, whilst I think Eriksen will be given a role on the left floating infield as a playmaker.

Initially something like:

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Paulinho Capoue/Sandro Dembele
Lamela Soldado Eriksen
Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Chiriches, Sandro/Capoue, Holtby, Chadli, Defoe
And there is still more to come such as maybe a striker and a left back, players like Sigurdsson and Lennon look rather surplus to requirements right now though.

this is what it will look like i reckon.

Soldado, Lamela, Chadli loading the box. Eriksen as the CM whom threads balls through for the forwards. Rose and Walker on the wings to whip in crosses if necessary. Paulinho and Capoue to be the "iron curtain" so to speak. And Chiriches and Vertonghen at the back to give Lloris some company/someone to holler to so he doesn't get bored during the 90 minute onslaught from our amazing front 6 (front 8 w/ walker and rose when we're attacking). im giddy just thinking about it

I see we've already sold Chadli.

I love how every starting XI I've seen over the last few weeks have been missing Sandro, the bloke was everyone's favorite last season and now cant get in anyone's side?

Lamela will play on the right not the left, more likely to see Townsend moved left, Lamela is far more creative and moves around smaller spaces, Townsend has more of the explosive knock it past your man, power past and leather it that Bale has.

Eriksen however would likely play from the left, only makes sense that he is Willian plan B and he will play a similar role Sigurdsson has been and Mata did at Chelsea under AVB as the creative wide forward. It will change on a game by game basis under AVB but the main line up would most likely be Eriksen Soldado Lamela, left to right.

I personally think (and prepared to get a lot of disagrees here) he gets slightly OTT praise on here, a very good player but people seem to put him in some uber-category because of his personality etc.

It all depends how we are going to play, Capoue probably offers slightly less defensively but is quite a bit better at recycling possession from that deep role. If we continue with Capoue/Sandro alongside Dembele and Paulinho, rather than a No.10 such as Eriksen, then Capoue may offer the better balance as his ability on the ball is of greater use to us if we line-up that way.

We were all shitting a brick last season when Sandro got injured.
And on another note I thought Chadli while not setting the world a light has been decent.

Fun as this season should be, I'd like to wish AVB luck in trying to keep all these players happy in a world cup year...

As long as Sandro is starting most games i shall be happy :)
