If only Berbatov would think how good that team could be.

You've only got five subs, Arshavin hasn't signed, Berbatov may have gone.

Where's Bent?

Bent will at least equal Berbatov when it comes to the business of goalscoring—Berbatov hasn't, in all honesty, been that great when it comes to putting them away. The other stuff, sure, Berba's in a different class—but we have a lot of other providers for an out-and-out goalscorer like Bent now.

So in a straight choice between Berrbatov and Bent in my line up you'd opt for Bent. Are you sure ?

With Arshavin behind him, yes. Even without Arshavin—dos Santos and Modric will provide the chances (not to mention the Hudd, Bentley, Lennon, Bale, BAE and Gilberto)—he'll do well.

We signed him as an out-and-out goalscorer, a replacement for Defoe and Mido. Berbatov's goalscoring record has been good, but nothing to scream about—it's his ability as a provider that's set him apart. We can, and have, replaced that. Ignoring the super-cool penalties, from open play Berba hasn't been that great.

Had a quick check on Wiklapedia and unless their stats are wrong I would say that 46 goals in 69 games over 2 seasons is a pretty good scoring record. In fact outstanding. And he did not start taking penaltiies until the second half of last season. He has not played with the creativity behind him that you mention. If he had perhaps he would have averaged a goal per game ! He is the one that has had to provide the creativity as well as goals.
I can't believe that you are suggesting that Bent should be preferred to a world class striker who, as you point out, offers so much more in his all round game. I agree that it is possible that in a 4-5-1 or similar formation Darren Bent could do a Clive Allen. Possible. But I would not bank on it. It also would not surprise me if he fails to perform and posts on here are divided between " he is lacking confidence, fans are on his back " and " he is crap, why did we ever let Berbatov go ?" Shades of Carrick and Zokora.
Anyway this was not supposed to be a post about Darren Bent. I gave my view that a formation that contains Modric, Arshavin and Berbatov would be awesome. Doubt we will see it though.

If we sign Arshavin and Berbs leaves:

------------Gomes----------
--Hutton--Woody--King--Bale
-----Modric-------Jenas-----
-Bentley-Arshavin-Dos Santos
------------Bent------------

If we don't sign Arshavin and Berbs leaves:

------------Gomes----------
--Hutton--Woody--King--Bale
------Hudd-------Jenas------
-Bentley--Modric--Dos Santos
------------Bent------------

If we don't sign Arshavin but keep Berbs:

------------Gomes----------
--Hutton--Woody--King--Bale
-----Modric-------Jenas-----
Bentley---Berbs---Dos Santos
------------Bent------------

And finally if we get Arshavin and keep Berbs

------------Gomes----------
--Hutton--Woody--King--Bale
-----Modric-------Jenas-----
-Bentley-Arshavin-Dos Santos
-----------Berbs------------

When did we buy Capel, Villa and Eto'o???

My guess was just to start the ball rolling... I was guessing we might sign Villa and Eto'oin the transfer window, looks like I am wrong :) I am still hoping Berba will start against 'Boro, alongside Bent... but all will be relealed Saturday week, at 15.00

That'll do me! Unless we sign Arshavin in which case Bale LB, Gio LW, Arshavin in the hole.
