Don't think you can change squad numbers mid-season, never seen anyone do it. And anyway, I've never been fussed about players having the 'right' number for their position.

Give Khumalo No.5 and the new über-striker we've been dreaming of No.10 ray:

This is true, regulations says that a player isn't allowed to wear more than one shirt number in a Premier League season. Any changes must wait untill the summer.

Don't think Dawson would want number 5, 20 Dawson is like a trade mark for him now. Had it for so many years, just like King would never consider a change. Bet Bassong would love to change from silly number 19 though, and I think 5 is Corluka's prefered shirt as well. If it's open when Khumalo get his, it's likely to be given to him though.

All of Berti's goals came in 97/98 when he was wearing 35.

That means the last goal scored by a Spurs number 4 was on 24 February 1997 by David Howells in the 4-3 away defeat against West Ham!

I would imagine Assou-Ekotto has a liking for no. 32 as that was the number he wore at his previous club.

With Bale it's a tricky one, part of me would like him to have no.11 if he's playing left wing, but then he's a left back / left winger and may well go back to left back later in his career so probably best to keep him with no.3.

van der Vaart I would like to see given the no.10 in the summer if vacated, s'long as we don't get Benzema as I'd want him to have it otherwise.

van der Vaart may well request no.23 if Cudicini goes anywhere as he seems to like that number since his Hamburg days, although he did wear 10 for Ajax so it may have been a case of what was available.
