I've seen lots of highlights and catch games online when I can and it's clearly evident that Donley has tremendous eyes for both a shot and a pass. However, he looks devoid of any real athleticism imo.. He's certainly not afraid to get stuck in, and credit to him.

I've thought this for quite a while and with each game it's only reinforced, but he quite literally moves and plays with the same stye and gait as Lo Celso.

Sounds like the 2nd coming of Harry Kane 😉

Lets see how he does with the U21s first.
Yeah, it's hard not to get excited about the lad and the numbers he's putting up but he's still so young and the next three years will give us more of an idea as to where he's going to end up.
We all want the next Rooney, Messi or Bellingham but we've also lived through many like Lee Barnard before.
I was convinced that he was going to be a legend when he was in the youth teams, putting up incredible numbers.

Social media really doesn't help these youngsters nowadays, when they've got the likes of Romano bigging them up, it's going to be hard to keep grounded.

If he can keep this up and break through at 17 or 18, that's brilliant but let's just temper our expectations for someone who's still a kid.

You can only suppress a talent like that for so long. I think he'll be on the pre season tour and pretty much stay there while getting games for the U21s

There are more recent examples too.

Troy Parrott's numbers were even better at that level (Moore would need 4 goals and/or assists in his next 2 games to equal Parrott) but he wasn't much more than OK at U21 level abd he hasn't produced in mens football.

Scarlett was great at U18s, didn't really do well at U21 and is struggling at mens football.

Yeah, there's a long way to go for this lad yet.
It looks promising so far but we've been here many times before, so let's not get too carried away just yet.
Kids that have looked great at 17 have all but disappeared and then there's the likes of Kane, who didn't shine much at all at that young age but worked his way through.
There's no way of telling how they'll turn out at such a tender age, so I totally agree with you on Moore.

Both players are still developing so hardly failures or let downs.

Certainly but I think time may be running short for Troy and as excited as I was for Dane, I'm just not sure he's got anything that makes him stand out.
I'll give Scarlett more time but I think Parrott's time has passed, sadly.

That being said, I think we'd still get a bit of money for Parrott, so he's far from a failure because part of the thing about having a successful academy is making money off the players that don't quite make it.

I agree and I'm not writing them off, this is in regards too Moore being ready for our first team and I'm pointing out there is still a long way to go & higher levels to prove himself at, which Parrott and Scarlett are still trying to do.

We might potentially see Donley make the 1st team bench this week or later this month. Sounds like Richy is set to undergo pelvic surgery, which will likely keep him out for a couple weeks, if not more.

So Richy is definitely out for this weekend and apparently, Porro picked up knock on Monday and could be a doubt. Chance for Donley and one of the U21 fullbacks to make the bench?

Well, Maddison and Richy are definitely out for this weekend, so we'll see at least 2-3 U21 players make the bench.

The injuries are frustrating but it’s great that the young lads might get some game time.

I really believe you only get better playing a better opponent, and for someone like Donley you could see him going on a development curve similar to Kane. Has the technical ability and game smarts, develops physically, then works to get highly lean for that extra half yard/yard
