Well, I really want us to qualify. This cup is winnable, and we are not in a position to be arrogant about any trophy. Plus, minor European competition has helped me watch Spurs in person, in strange places.
Like Tripoli, Greece. And Maribor, Slovenia. Hopefully Tirana too.
See if we can beat Rennes first. We got lucky tonight.

This result is good news for us, giving us a lifeline.

I really think we should take this competition seriosuly. It could be the trophy the sets Conte's team on their way to greater things.

And, even more importantly: look at the teams standing in our way for this trophy, compared to the Carabao Cup and the FA-Cup. It is the easiest trophy to win - by far. If we only take it seriously enough.

Assuming that with the draw on Monday we cannot get an English or Dutch side, a win would see us enter a Playoff against one of the following, playing away first as the seeded team:

Sparta Prague
Fenerbache
Marseille
Midtyjlland
Celtic
Rapid Vienna

Another win there would see us enter the First Knockout Round. As an unseeded side due to needing the playoff, we would play at home first against one of the following:

LASK Linz
KAA Gent
Roma
AZ Alkmaar
Feyenoord
Copenhagen
Rennes
Basel

The other teams entering the playoff, who we cannot meet until at least the quarter-final, are:

Maccabi Tel-Aviv
Partizan Belgrade
Bodo/Glimt
Randers
Slavia Prague
PAOK
Qarabag
PSV
Leicester

I am amazed we are still in the competition. Leyton Orient we’re not so lucky in the FA cup last season.
When will we play Rennes?

We’re the favorites in this competition, and thats why I really want us to advance. Haven’t won a trophy in forever, and this is a massive chance, I don’t care if it’s the conference league. Honestly, Rennes are probably our biggest competition, bigger than Roma and Leicester, with how they’re playing in Ligue 1. Hopefully they rotate heavily given their winter break and the fact they’re through as group winners.
Pre-season favourites, sure. Right now, 538 put us 7th because of the fact that we still need to beat Rennes at home (they give us a 54% chance of that) just to make the playoff. Rennes themselves are now favourites for the tournament with a 13% shot.

Some really tasty games there, Rapid Vienna would be nice.

Good result for us, I know peoples opinions differ on this tournament but it’s been too long since we lifted silverware and even more so in Europe so I’d take it in a heartbeat

Europa League drop outs include some tough nuts. If we make it there, we'll meet one of those (Spurs/Vitesse will obviously not be drawn v Leicester or PSV), games to be played Feb 17 and 24:

Marseilles
Sparta Prague
Fenerbahce
Celtic
Rapid Vienna
Midtjylland

I'm sorry but I think people are deluded if they think we are anywhere near the best team left in this competition. I can only assume it is based on an assumption of a number of brilliant signings, in January, which is quite a stretch on previous evidence. Take Kane and Son away at the moment and what have we got, really? It's incredibly mediocre. It's not a case of not showing this cup respect, we are just not good/strong enough ( at the moment)

That’s what makes their pissy attitude yesterday strange. Maybe they were just being stereotypically French about things. They’ve got bigger fish to fry than worrying about the game today.

And how strong are the likes of Roma, Leicester and Marseille when you take away their best two players?

We might have our weaknesses, but we have a reasonable chance of winning this competition. Especially with a couple of good signings in January and a world-class manager at the helm.

Who do you think is better than us of the remaining sides? Personally I think we're stronger than Rennes, Marseille, Leicester and Roma. That's not to say we're anywhere near our top standard, but being a top-half English club is enough to be up there as one of the best teams in this tournament.

If we take it seriously it is a winnable competition. That's the thing. IF we take it seriously. Which to this point we haven't.
