I’d go with a 3-man midfield here if possible to likely match theirs — especially with Winks looking to be one of the starting midfielders. With Skipp out this would likely be Hojbjerg-Winks-Bentancur.

They’ll be looking to outnumber us in midfield and free up space for Ward Prowse, as they did successfully prior to the red card last match.

I think we generally look so much more solid with 3 in MF. We can always change it up with Lucas or Kulusevski off the bench.

I could see Sessegnon coming in for Reguilon. Royal came off in the last game, so will probably start this one.

Really looking forward to the game today, which probably means it'll be a painfully stale 0-0.

We should absolutely be aiming for 6 points against Southampton and Wolves at home, with Man City away following immediately afterwards. Get the job done tonight, and stick it to them for draining the life out of the game at St Mary's.

COYS.

I felt so disillusioned and disconnected, watching games under Mourinho & Nuno. It wasn't exciting, there was no belief and it was very hard to get up for games - that hurt.

Under Conte, however, the excitement and connection has returned and I can't wait to see our boys play, week in week out. I'm not saying, when things were down, I gave up and I wouldn't support the team through bad times. I will support this team until I die, but the change Conte has brought with him has been IMMENSE - inside and out. Long may it continue.

Huge game. Optimistic, excited, nervous... cant wait for this. 1-0 Southampton. ??

Shame about the WHam result. Hopefully we win this one and the points and games in hand remain a positive, rather than a panic to keep up

For me the man u result was much more important than the west ham one. Am completely confident that if we finish above man u, we will finish above west ham too
Of course am completely aware can be completely wrong ?
But honestly am not bothered about Wimbleham, never been top 4 in the Prem, and won't be this season either.

Revenge for the two shocking decisions that cost us 3 points at their place.

Really could do with 6 points from this and Wolves before we head into the City game the following weekend.

Yes that was awful, to be robbed of 2 good goals. Still think they'll cost us 4th.

Seeing how we have evolved over these last 2 months or so, and how many chances we are creating it feels like at some point someone is going to get a right pasting from us.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was tonight.

I'll still be biting my nails for most of it though ?

This week is pivitol. Arsenal don't play this weekend and have wolves tomorrow. Won't be easy for them and can see them dropping points. Win tonight and we go level on points with united with 2 games in hand and 1 behind west ham with 3 in hand. Beating wolves as well will then make the City game a free hit for us. We should be looking at 4 wins from next 5 league games. Do that and I think we will be sitting in 4th with games in hand.

We know they're going to come flying out of the blocks & press us like mad in an attempt to silence the crowd & not let us get into our stride.

They don't have any other way of playing & it's as simple as selecting players who are press resistant.

3 simple steps to success.

Select the correct midfielders.

Select WB's that make their WB's think twice about bombing down the wing.

Try everything in our power to not concede free-kicks around the area, thus preventing Ward-Prowse from doing Ward-Prowse things.

Do those things, the amount of chances we create will end up being too much for them. 3 points in the bag.

Jobs a good-un.

Lads, I honestly think this will be a cracker.

I'm going Kane Hatrick and 4-1.
Pretty sure his last league hat-trick was at home against Southampton about 4 seasons ago, which is pretty incredible when you consider it was his 8th in the league and he hasn't scored one since.

As I think about this, I'll be pretty surprised if we go with a 3-man midfield. With Skipp out, any injury would require a change of shape/tactics in mid-game. I don't think Conte takes that risk.

I think it will be 2 CMs, and 3 attacking players.

Say what you will about Paul - he does seem to do a good job* with the line-ups:

*Presumably someone in the WhatsApp group gets a peek at the line up sheet.
