Gio not starting feels a bit surprising. I though he was nailed on but maybe he's lower down Ange's pecking order?

Fair enough Ange has faith in Sarr and Richy needs opportunity. COYS!

Could simply be lots of games, and the need to get players some minutes.

(I also think most people either underestimate, or simply don't understand, how important Sarr, and his industry, is to the midfield. He does a lot of the dirty work - has to be available in all 3 aspects of the game, not just attacking.)

Feel for Lo Celso personally.

Need the front 3 to perform a damn sight better than they did against West Ham.

Yeah I think he’s been overrated by some since he’s been here, but I do think the way he’s played the last few weeks and in the absence of both Maddison and Bentacour, it’s a bit harsh that he’s lost his place.

One of my many pet peeves... nobody seems to understand that he prefers to go by Bryan as a single name.

It's like those who insisted on calling Lucas for Moura.
Footballers have trademark names, it's easy to see what they should be called as it's on the back of the shirt.

Kulu I think has been doing better more central. I guess it is a bit surprising no Gio starting, but I do feel he struggles to last 90 minutes. I know people were confused some of those games he came off, but oth times Ange took him off he did look to be tiring and not as sharp as he was earlier in games.

Still just lacking that striker with killer instinct and Maddison, but still a pretty strong even without vdv, Bentancur and Maddison. Still gutted Perisic had such a bad injury. Perfect sub to bring on in tough games like this to add more crossing quality.

I know they've got injuries but that Newcastle line-up still looks pretty strong to me.

Lo Celso dropping probably mainly due to Newcastle's physicality, happy to see Sarr back

It could also be that GLC is not ready to play 3cmatches in 8 days. He is not the most physically gifted and expends a lot of energy. Hopefuuly he makes a difference of the bench if needed.

We were at our best earlier in the season when Biss and Sarr played together in the middle so that's promising.

Still worry about the creativity without Madders so let's see what Deki can do today.

Still think it's very unlikely we keep a clean sheet so we'll need some goals.

Makes me wonder how much of a future Kulusevski has on the right. Not saying we'll never see him there again, but we've obviously acted on the issue of the play slowing down when it goes out wide to him. It's not like he's bad every time he plays there either.

Guess a lot depends on how well Johnson can perform there.

GLC is a terrier, he absolutely gets stuck in.
I must have been imagining all those games where he looked half arsed :D

The bloke is a good player when he wants to be but I question his consistency and especially his minerals when the going gets tough. Open to him proving me wrong, he's made a start at it but for me, he's nowhere near changing my mind...........not yet.

I'm looking for signs that Bissouma is finding his confidence and/or form again but so far he still looks a little off. When we see him taking a touch and surging past a player like he was earlier in the season I think that'll be a good sign. Not that i've watched every minute of him since he returned
