Poch: "Lo Celso is a situation that is not going to be easy. Was in extended holidays after the Copa America, he didn't have a proper pre-season and didn't train much. Then signed for us after a week without training.
"He's training well but is so far away from what we expect from him. We need to give him time and we won't expect too much from him."
No home stadium, increasingly apathetic "support"...Circumstances were vastly different though weren't they?
ie: no new signings, exhausted players.
In fairness, Sissoko was one of the best CMs in the league last year...No Ndombers or Lo Celso. So 2 games in and we're back to last season's midfield again.
Goody.
So? It's still the most recent evidence to go on, it's entirely possible performances will improve to go with positive results, but it's not a given, results can also deteriorate to match performances, which is what happened last year, whatever the circumstances.Circumstances were vastly different though weren't they?

Top 40, easily. In fairness, Sissoko was one of the best CMs in the league last year...

I know what you mean but in a sense this is a positive as well. Last season if 2 of our best central midfielders (Winks and Sissoko) were out we'd be down to Dier/Skipp/Wanyama in the middle.
At least now with injuries there we can still put out a fairly solid partnership. Of course though, hopefully we can have Ndombele back and Lo Celso integrated as soon as possible!

Sunday!Hope we'll start positively tomorrow and deliver a solid team performance.
On a sidenote: I am aware he's no worldbeater but for some reason I am glad Rondon is no longer at Newcastle. Our defence usually struggled against him...
That doesn’t work in football either.I hereby order Pochettino to start Vertonghen and Moura.
our recent record including against the parked bus is pretty poor, and now with nD out an unready GLC and a half-arsed Eriksen where is the creative spark going to come from? To edge a victory, let alone rack up early GD like some are suggesting?
Maybe a worldy from Kane, a fck up by their keeper like last time?
I can see them getting nil unless we're slack in fighting for every set piece in our own box.
But we aint seeing any goal avalanche tomorrow- no way...
1-0 or 0-0.
