The next stop in our brutal fixture schedule is a key Europa League qualifying play-off tie against Maccabi Haifa this evening.
The visit of the Israeli outfit to north London is the second of three matches involving us this week, with us defeating rivals Chelsea on penalties on Tuesday night to advance through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. We also travel to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Mourinho will make further changes to cope with such a hectic calendar as we look to secure a place in the group stages of the 2020-21 Europa League, having already overcome Bulgaria's Lokomotiv Plovdiv and KF Shkendija of North Macedonia in earlier qualifying rounds. Jose who has prioritised this match and spoke of the importance of the financial boost associated with qualification.
He also raised the prospect of a return for Dele during Wednesday's pre-match press conference, commenting that the England midfielder had been "very professional" in training after being left out of four of the last five Tottenham matchday squads. Heung-min Son remains absent with a hamstring injury, though there is a small chance he could play at Old Trafford on Sunday. Gareth Bale, meanwhile, is still unavailable due to a knee problem and won't return until after the October international break.
We have shown commendable spirit battling through such a difficult fixture pile-up, with Tuesday's win over Chelsea providing a huge morale boost after the controversy that occurred in the final stages of their Premier League draw against Newcastle. Mourinho will inevitably have to make further changes here against a team that currently sit top of the Israeli Premier League following successive wins, but he should still be able to field a lineup capable of winning the game and booking our place in the Europa League group stages.
