I don't like Frank Lampard but I respect him for not being biased as a West Ham/Chelsea man on Monday Night Football tonight. He said Jones' challenge was a red card.
It's as if Liverpool are still trying to get a player sent off in this oneVan Dijk got an extra game recently after Liverpool complained.
And I thought there was a precident for calling out teams who regularly challenge red cards - let alone a team that's got 4 already, I think, in 7 games...
He literally said he knows Jones hasn't 'done him' because he's done it himself. Shows what sort of character he is.Why does anybody take Neville seriously? On Saturday during commentary he said that Diaz was off side; suggesting he’d spotted something that the main commentator had missed. He’s a fraud and knob of the highest order.
Brighton v Liverpool Sunday , think they need to give that one to the best referee available , Michael Oliver maybe
I am absolutely speechless that Neville defended it.With regards to the red card, if Jones caught the top 1/2 inch of the ball then his foot was 8 inches off the ground when he went in for the tackle. That is high enough to be deemed a red in itself irrespective of intent.
Nah bring back Uriah Rennie.Calls for a one off Mike Dean special out of retirement this one.
Yes. It's so simple...And, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the response also include something along the lines of "Agreed, award the try" or "there was an infringement, no try", for clarity as well?
I’ll be astonished if this isn’t spoken about on the Refs programme tomorrow night. We’ll likely get to hear the audio and Webb will explain exactly what the mistake was. The transparency will put to bed all the silly bribery rumours and all the talk of agendas and just show that it was the most basic of cock ups. A significant cock up sure, but the moving parts involved in this are pretty basic. One man thought they’d given the goal, another thought they’d disallowed it.
Liverpool will need to put their big boy pants on and get over it.
It’s called something like “refs mic’d up” it’s hosted by Michael Owen and he talks through the controversial decisions with Howard Webb. It’s on Sky one night and TNT the next (or it might be vice versa) Tuesday’s and Wednesdays I think. What referee programme is that out of interest?
I don’t think the audio should be released personally. If they do it for this one they’ll have to do it for every one going forward.
He was, and might still be, ill.Sorry if this was already asked and answered on Saturday - but was Dier left out of the matchday squad, or was he injured?
Not sure but some of the social media abuse again was vile. These social media giants need to do something as it is too easy for these keyboard warriors.Sorry if this was already asked and answered on Saturday - but was Dier left out of the matchday squad, or was he injured?

It’s not going to be very nice for Hooper and England. But I think it’s probably for the best to put it on the show, better to be laughed at than vilified as cheats or corrupt.A couple of the papers this morning saying they’ll release the audio. I’m not sure it’s a good idea. For some reason nowadays people seem to think they are entitled to know everything about everything. Sometimes things stay confidential for a good reason.
