Jose said clear as day the game plan today was not to leave vardy space to run at/in behind our back line. We stopped vardy and they struggled to break us down. Everything that got through Hugo stopped well. It was all to game plan until we visibly tired in the 2nd half. There's been a lot of games in the past few weeks so I think it was an excellent all round performance and there was no point looking to take too many chances in the 2nd half as the game was already won as long as we didn't play naively.

I don't understand how some people are unhappy with a 3-0 win at home?
Haha good one.

Brilliant performance today, sure it was against a weakened Leicester back line but that for me was the best we've played under Jose and that was the most signs of a proper peak jose mouriniho side's style of play that we have seen so far.

We were so clinical right from the off, managed the game brilliantly. Yes they had more posession and shots but we absoloutely were in control of that game pretty much throughout, i never really felt like they were going to score, at worst one goal but once it was 2 and 3-0 that was game over and that is a hallmark of a well functioning mouriniho side.

Many positives today and some great recent results and form, onwards and upwards.

COYS.
It was a really good performance and tactically we got it spot on, counter attacking their weakened defence with devastating efficiency, but I wouldn't go as far as saying I didn't think they would score, they created quite a few dangerous chances which we did well to keep out.

A few times now Jose has said we look tired. If we’re serious about competing on a few fronts (e.g. maybe an EL charge) then that must be on his mind for the transfer window

The best teams that win stuff now don’t play how we play because the game has moved on. We play like a team that is trying not to lose games not a team trying to win them. In the end that won’t be enough to win things.
It's amazing that we've won 5 out of our last 7 without even trying. Imagine what we'd be like when we decide we want to win a game!

What I like is that the players are buying into the Jose way and Kane in particular sounded upbeat about our results and is looking forward to next season going on the quotes I have read .With a right back ; plus Hoijberg ; Willian plus a Kane back up and perhaps that Korean centre half at minimum we would be a fair % better next season . As for the style of play having seen the teams at all Jose's clubs I am sure that the pragmatism in him dictates that he plays " on the break football " against certain sides he sees as a danger but his teams can and have played attacking front foot football but at the right time against the weaker teams and that is why that at Real /Chelsea / Inter / his sides scored bucketloads of goals . Circumstances dictates that this fragmented season and also injuries and cv10 also starting mid season has meant he has or will play break away style of football for all the games since the cv19 break .

I'm confused.

We have tactics.

Not just "run about a bit".

Not just "press, press, press".

But tactics.

That change depending on situtation.

Jose had a plan.
We did the plan.
The plan worked.

What is this witchcraft?

Also next season there will be five substitute rule ... So we need a stronger bench
This is really dependant on how lucky we are with injuries. As long as we have 2-3 "strong" substitute options per game, I think we'll be OK. There's a fine line between having a strong bench and having a stacked bench. We'll never be able to have 5-7 game changers on the bench like City do.

I think when fully fit our squad depth only needs 2 or 3 more bodies.

Today was a prefect storm. Not all games will be like this. I am happy we won but I don’t like Mourinho’s football. We will have a lot of games where the football is terrible and we won’t win. Bournemouth and Sheffield United. It will get us so far but I don’t believe it will be enough for us to win trophies nowadays as there are too many better teams.

I'm abroad and working so didn't get to see any of the game. Just got in and looked on the beeb for the result, good win. But are these really the stats for the game??

Probably, but when you're 3-0 down at half time the onus is on you to come out and attack. A lot of Leicester's shots were 20-25 yard hits. A stat came up around 75 mins in to say they'd had 20 shots and I was absolutely amazed.

I'd say they only had 1 or 2 chances which actually concerned me.

Yeah, one great save from Lloris. Nothing else that troubled us really.

Sat back, let them have the ball and at times closed them down and quick breaks.

If we play barcelona-esque football we would not have terrible game anymore out of 8 games?

Stats don't tell the full story of our play. Football these days are all about transitions and the quality of ours were light years ahead of Leicesters. Looking at that it looks like we got absolutely dominated and didn't create much. A closer look at the match will tell you that the chances we have been creating in the last few games have been very, very dangerous.

Meh each to their own, I’d say we defended very well but most of the saves Hugo made were routine, I certainly felt when we attacked we were much more dangerous than they were.

That second half was Mourinho's Spurs. Tough, organised, robust, communicative, focused and effective on the break.

I like watching good defending. It's got a powerful teamwork component to it and football is a team game. I don't like watching eight Spurs players prowling around the edge of the box with not a bloody clue how to pick apart a 9-man opposition defence. But we didn't defend like that today. It was just Lloris and the back four, with Lucas tracking back and Sissoko or WInks blocking up the gaps.

Leicester made good chances and they failed to score not because we were fortunate, but because there was always a Spurs defender in the right place with a block or a header. If not, Lloris was alert.

It's not virtuoso football, but neither is it boring, grim football. It's good teamwork.

Obviously, Kane deserves the MotM award, but really it should go to the whole Spurs defence. Solid.

100% this. Every time a gap opened, you could see someone marshalling their defence. Someone was always getting out there. At one point Davies was on Gray and Tielemans ran in behind him. Davies had already spotted him and told Son exactly where to be. He couldn’t get the cross he wanted and was cleared easily.

I still have reservations about Aurier but now is not the time to dig him out. It takes an unbelievable level of character and mental strength to make himself available tonight, and I have so much respect for that.

I thought it was the most complete performance of the season. Everything was right and everyone did their job. For all the players they’re missing, Leicester can create chances but apart from that early chance, I don’t remember Vardy doing anything of note.

How good was the match today? There’s so little to complain about that the match thread has turned to Gareth Bale‘s Spanish fluency, or lack thereof.

Only time will tell. Good on you for believing that the football we're playing under Jose will not bear fruit, and ultimately in a year or so you might be proven 100% correct.

However I think it's bold to believe this when we're looking the most organised that we have been in the last 2 seasons in attack and defense. You don't suddenly keep 4 clean sheets in 9 games by mistake after only keeping 4 in the previous 28 in the league.

The signs of improvement are there to see game by game. These aren't easy fixtures we're playing either.
