BT Sport really ruining Jadon Sancho for me. Talk about overhyping young English talent. What he's done so far I've seen Son do every game with no recognition for the same dribbling and movement.

One's English.

We need someone to be able to beat Dortmund’s press but we don’t.

Winks needs to try, I guess it’s risky though. We just can’t seem to construct any possession in the final third.

It’s annoying as Dortmund are clearly beatable. We just need to move the ball better than we have.

Absolutely fascinating, absorbing half. Enjoyable football all around. Dortmund have had the better of it, but that's because they're fucking good and they have Jadon Sancho, who is plainly the best player on the pitch. But we've played well, except for a 10-minute spell in the middle of the half when we stopped pressing and couldn't get the ball.

Watching Juan Foyth is also fascinating. He's just a gigantic talent, with real vision, playing psychic back-heels out of defence to relieve pressure and attacking down the right like a fullback. But he's naive and he makes potentially expensive mistakes.

Our key player tonight, as I suggested earlier, is Winks, because there's no one else in the 11 who can control tempo and possession and prevent Dortmund from passing and moving all around us. Sissoko has been OK, but isn't dominating, because the movement in Dortmund's midfield is too good for him to intimidate them.

Son needs to be closer to the box. On two occasions, Winks has put through not-well-weighted through balls, but I have to think that there have been other occasions when those opportunities might have been available, had we have someone, anyone attacking the space in front of the goalkeeper.

Lloris has been excellent again.

Dave, you’re post is like a calm harbour in amongst a tempest of knee jerk posts. Thanks.

I can understand the cautious approach, unfortunately like this though I can see Dortmund nicking something more than us, just as they have more space to play into when they do go forward.

0-0 wouldn't be bad at all but we're walking a bit of a tight rope as a 1-0 defeat which is highly possible with this approach would make things very tough come the second leg.

We need to stop giving the ball away so easily, especially in our own half. Need Eriksen and Son to get involved more.

Listening on the radio driving home, how much of a hard on does Ally Mcoist have for Dortmund??

I should have quantified that comment by saying "passes that matter". I reckon the majority of our sweet passes go back to defence or lloris tbf.

thats down to the formation. You've got Winks, Sissoko, Aurier and Verts trying to get the ball to the 3 forwards. Only one of them is known for his passing. Its too easy for Dortmund to defend. We need to switch to a 4-2-3-1 and let Eriksen drop a little deeper.

It's more going the other way, they both miss a lot of passes that are barely above a routine level. You watch the best sides in the comp and they dominate play within the other team's half, shifting it around effortlessly. We can't do that, it's very hot or miss with us. Decent defensively but too much of our attack relies on son or Eriksen to pull something out of their arse, rather than being played through for easy chances

To move it around you have to have runners though, people on the move making or finding the pocket of space. Yes we would ideally have better technical quality and who make better passes, but I'd really suggest fans try not to follow the ball for a bit and watch what the others are doing. The amount of players who stand still and don't come alive until the ultra obvious is happening is quite amazing. And this is most weeks, win lose or draw. It's something as a collective we could really improve on.

Didn’t I read someone saying that Dortmund tend to tire after 60 mins or so?

Game on if true!

Personally think we need to win this, at 0-0 I would fancy Dortmund to get the win home leg.
