I wonder what you guys thought of Yaser Kasim? As he is a interesting case as he wanted to leave us to go to Brighton under Poyet for more first team opportunities and interestingly iirc he started to play very well then and was a good performer and I remember a couple of us were shocked he left!

I remember Holtby City used to sing his praises, back in the day...

He's probably been Swindon's best player so far this season. Composed on the ball, plays a fairly simple game and works hard defensively. From what I've seen he doesn't venture too far forward and normally leaves that to Luongo.

Thanks, I wonder how he signed for them obviously the spurs connection must of been a factor because he was another one that seemed most clubs werent fancying

I think that was I when I was a lurker here but imo our problem has been we have too many good youth prospects in CM that none developed they would they should and Carroll is lucky imo because there was a point before he was on fire that you looked around him and thought he needs to improve to stay. Funny how it works often

Seem to recall he left in a huff because of lack opportunities; he resented that he had been at Spurs since a schoolboy but Comolli's big money signings Bostock and Parrett had jumped ahead of him in the pecking order - perhaps with some justification given that Bostock and Parrett both flopped at Swindon last season whereas Kasim has become an overnight cult hero.

Think he was without a club for quite a while before Poyet picked him up at Brighton; he did not get a look in there and ended up being loaned out to Conference teams and still not getting a game.

His renaissance at Swindon has been truly remarkable; he seems to fit their (i.e. our) system: a nonchalantly technical play making defensive midfielder who sits at the base of the three a la Capoue (or Huddlestone come to that). But perhaps not so suited to 4-4-2.

Presumably he had remained on Sherwood's radar and he put in a word for him.

Exactly and thats why I had expected him to be there under our input as he has gone from struggling with conference teams and struggling to find a club to being a big player for a decent team which tbh doesnt have space for him as they have Luongo and Mason for CM and Pritchard for AM or wing as well as the players they had before.

As for Bostock and Parrett, Bostock was playing very well when he first joined but Kasim was matching him in terms of performances and there were people saying he was playing better.

Its a shame because he is another footballer that has lost 2 or 3 years of his career tbh

Couple of snippets of information :

1. Rumours emanating from Brighton fans that Jonthan Obika will be going there on loan when the Loan Transfer Windoiw to Football League Clubs opens this week.

On previoius loans in the last couple of seasons he's struggled to be a starter (even last season after a great u 21 campaign and scoring for Charlton he only got about one start). He'll be 23 in a few days time, lets hope Brighton give him some starts.

2 THe PL u21 League is launching a League Cup, but Spurs are one of several teams (also Man U and Liverpool) who are not participating - shades of the launch of the original League Cup in the '60's.

Not really sure why we would not participate, unless it clashes with other planned activities as Spurs have a fairly large u 21 squad

I see Carroll played the full 90 minutes tonight. Did anyone manage to find this game on any format ?
He was motm according to the mail and goal.com, also both mentioned how Kane coming on changed the match and fed Zaha for the side pass for Berahino

My main excitement this season is to see how Onomah progresses for the u18s, of course Miller and Winks also but Onomah is the main one for me. Hopefully a game for the u21's towards the end of the season if he continues to progress nicely.

I get annoyed with following youths at that sort of age because whenever you think they are going to be amazing for us they never come through (Pekhart, Coulibaly, Leigh Mills, Terry Dixon and so many others) so I now try and ignore this bracket all together!!

He is still only 18! I wouldn't have added him into there just yet, the others I can agree with.

With all due respect to those you've listed, Onomah is far better than any of those were. Plus Pekhart is a regular in the Bundesliga...

Dixon to be fair was sunk by a dodgy knee - as were so many others McKenna, Bowditch, Davis etc.

Mills it was more hype due to the transfer rather than based on anything he did in a Spurs shirt.

Pekhart was a beast for his age and was always going to score hatloads against defenders half his size.

The one mystery I will never get is Ifil. He was the best seventeen year old I ever saw and a nailed on future international, but he went dramatically backwards after going out on loan to Millwall and then sunk through the divisions like a stone on leaving Spurs.

He came on as a sub in the first u21 game v Newcastle last season, so it won't be his u21 debut. Also played in a couple of the NextGen u19 games - shame that is not running this season as I fancy he would have been playing more of that as a useful step up to the u21's

Our Spurs XI team beat Ipswich 3-2 in a friendly at the Training Centre today - late winner from @kennethMcevoy, Simon Dawkins netted twice.

Good to hear that McEvoy is back fit again, will be needed to supply width after Ceballos went on loan
