Mason has lost less games in Europe then Jose. Levy is already paying himself a bonus for the successful recruitment process.

“We believe that we should never stand still and that the sport should constantly review competitions and governance."
Speaking of governance, can the Trust make a note to ask the club about the governance process that lead to this decision in the first place?

The end of the ESL doesn’t solve the problem that we face the prospect of a boring and predictable Premier League for years to come. While Chelsea can seemingly spend £200 million every summer and City, Liverpool and United much the same it does not leave us and the rest of the teams in a very good place. We will probably end up with an English Super League within the Premier League. Very sad. Ever since the financial disaster brought about by Irving Scholar we have struggled to compete and have been left behind by the likes of Chelsea. I think the fear of this happening again was largely responsible for Daniel Levy getting involved with the EFL. This differs from Abramovich, City, United and Liverpool who were motivated by pure greed.

Makes one think. How come “clever” business men, made such a terrible decision.

I can't imagine that such a major project would be approved by the owners/presidents without assessing ALL risks first. Any person with just the slightest knowledge about football, would have pinpointed the fan reaction as an absolute obstacle.... Was this ever realistic or did they just set an example to the UEFA/FIFA-f*ckers....

It was own goal total shitshow from the off..
.
The one thing about this debacle that bothers me the most is the way Sky Sports have come across as 'Champions for The People" Stockholm syndrome style.

"We should like to thank all those supporters who presented their considered opinions."

I suspect this translates as "I received thousands of emails calling me a ****."

Based on Agnelli's comments over the last 24 hours, I think several of the instigators were prepared to plough ahead regardless of any opinions or attempted sanctions. Woodward and Henry only withdrew their clubs once other English clubs had.
It seems pretty clear to me that the owners of Real, Juventus, Man Utd and Liverpool were the drivers, with the other clubs involved signing up to avoid being left behind.
PSG, Bayern and Dortmund were potentially the other three clubs due to make the 12 up to 15 founding members, with them holding off on committing to / announcing their involvement before seeing the initial reaction to the ESL. So perhaps they were simply a bit more savvy than us, rather than less guilty/greedy.

Currently watching Sky Sports showing a debate with a Liverpool fan and a Manchester United fan. Talking about fairness in football. The sanctimonious hypocrites make me want to throw up. All this pretence about protecting the whole of football is claptrap. They are only interested in keeping the status quo in which their teams make pots of cash to keep their position as top dogs. The United fan lamented the demise of local teams Bury and Macclesfield. If United had wanted to they could have saved them but instead they continue to splash out on players, huge salaries and prawn sandwiches.
