I agree about Son, but you need the balance between players like Clinton and Son and more creative support players in the team like Lamela and Pritchard. The movement needs to be there, but the creativity needs to be also.

I personally believe that Eriksen is able to offer a lot of the creative passes. It's just that our movement up front has lacked any real pace and movement off the ball.

Plenty will disagree but I'd still hold onto Lamela, he can be the back up 10 and RW... I just get the feeling there is a payoff around the corner with Lamela.... I'm probably still be saying this in 5 years but them my onions
I'm not so sure he's anything special, but he does see a pass or two. He has more use than Townsend in our playing style so that's why I can't really understand why we're not trying to get him out the door first.

I agree but it depends on what offers we receive coupled with what the players want as well.

I agree, Townsend is no more useful than Lennon as it currently stands. He's wasting his career by not moving on.

That's not true, in that link you quoted he played up top on his own in a lot of games. The victory against Mainz for example:

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...ellung_1-fsv-mainz-05-30_hamburger-sv-12.html

Besides that he started his career as a striker. Anyway, it would tie in with us wanting a WF who could play up top if need be.
Fair enough. He hasn't for Leverkusen from what I can see.

I thought that WF was N'Jie. If we're getting this guy instead of Berahino, I wouldn't be happy.

Therein lies the problem. While it would be best for us to keep Lamela and replace Townsend with Son or someone, Townsend really does not want to go and by the sounds of it, Lamela would welcome a move back to Italy.

It scares me that we might be going from having the creativity with no movement and directness elsewhere to open up space for the creativity to operate to having the movement and directness without having the creativity we need for those players to be successful.

The strange thing about this transfer is Son would be replacing the very player that could feed him and make him a success.

For all his critics Lamela does have vision and will see a pass, but I believe a lot of it is due to a lack of movement in front of him meaning he tries to do too much himself, which he isn't great at.

Would prefer if Townsend was the one to make way.

I totally agree with this. Our problem is we have too many players who want ball to feet rather than running ahead of play. Lamela and Eriksen would thrive if they had good movement and pace to feed balls into.

If Lamela goes then it only really leaves Eriksen and at a push Pritchard as the only players with who have the intelligence and vision to play those kind of balls.

Bang on. I live in hope that more movement might bring Eriksen to life, but we'll see.

Apparently this guy is like Cazorla due to the fact that he does not have preference for either foot. So we could play him on either wing as an inverted winger...

@honigstein: Re Son to Spurs: the news from German colleagues at @ksta_news and @SPORTBILD is very well sourced.

This is what is so baffling. How do our players just not move or make runs beyond the back 4? How often do we have people running in behind and attempting to open up play?

Truthfully, I miss Defoe's offside calls.

Eriksen, Pritchard, Carroll, Kane can pick a pass. Mason and Bentaleb have their moments from deeper roles, so does Alli having seen him play live for MK Dons on several occasions. Plus Onomah has flair, and Winks reads the game well and can pass a ball if they get game time. Yes not established names or shiny new signings, but several players with the skillset to create something and supply team mates.

So he might of been listed in the squad earlier, but hasn't been able to take part in final training session before the game....every chance they'll make a late change to their match day squad?
