I've just joined a snooker team in shropshire after a 3 year sabatical.
No fixture tonight 'cos they've got a bye, but it's an excuse to get some practise in and get to know the new team.

Can't bloody wait if i'm honest. Mainly because i'ver gone from playing virtually everyday to playing once or twice a year since moving up to Telford.
Plus it's all good practise for this compo that i'm gonna play in in March.

Happy days are here again!!!

Bump (off the cushion!)

The snooker league I play in has just re-started after it's summer break, so I'm all excited about getting back to playing again!

Anyone else play league snooker?

I used to play at uni. Back then, apart from the cue ball and the black, every ball was grey. My highest break was XXXVII.

Golf clubs back in the cupboard.

I got that snooker bug back again. Game is as hard as fuck, but brilliant and addictive.

Much like the 'Golf' thread but, er, well it's about snooker!

Anyone play, how long have you been playing, what sort of breaks are you getting, what's
your highest and that sort of thing.

What with the weather being generally shit of late it's really
disrupting to my love of playing golf. So, I revert to my 'winter'
sport of dossing around in snooker clubs.

I have a full size snooker table in the games room, I'm not that great though but can muster up a break over 50 every now and then.

Jealous now. :snooty:

About the table in your house, not the breaks.

Ronnie O’Sullivan hopefully about to go one frame away from winning a record 8th UK Championship, the guy is one of the most talented sportsmen ever, he makes snooker look like watching liquid silk, he’s an absolute genius and a joy to watch, hope he gets this over the line.

Bumped into Ronnie on Union Square, New York, on the Christmas of '08. Said hello, shook hands. I didn't ask him his business but he seemed quite pleased to find another Englishman in New York, as ol' Sting would say. Sound bloke.

I used to play a lot as a kid but not on full size tables. Won a few tournaments, but stepping up to full size is a different level. Have scored a 51 break but veered off into pool. Hardly any snooker halls around this area as well.

I was the same as a kid, and regret giving up to focus on football. Since turning 18, on the rare occasion I've gone to a snooker hall with my mates, I don't think I've scored higher than 40. I was happy with 29 the last time I went, about four years ago.

I would be well happy with a 29 to be honest these days. I regret not continuing. Easy to look back with regrets. Would be pretty happy with a 16!

O'Sullivan must be a clone of Mr.Bean and the Gallagher brothers. Not in their snooker abilitys of course.

Every time I see a Ronnie interview, I come away with the same impression, the man is a snooker genius, but my god, is he a big fat fucking dickhead. He can hide behind whatever he wants, but it is no excuse, especially when you know you are doing it. He makes others around him feel like shit. It's just not a nice trait.

It does take the shine off him, and the lengths people go to make excuses for him are also eye-opening, purely due to how good he is at the game.
