Who do you think is better?

He made several great calls before the Aguero one. He's made it an art form to just shout someone's name that others have copy but can't get close to.
I think the Five Live commentators are all far better than Tyler.

Did you hear any of the interviews people did with Tyler for the Woking tie? He just would not stop talking. Every single one had to cut him off, because he was rambling on and on and on.

He's obviously enthusiastic and loves football, but his commentary adds virtually no insight. It's mostly just the names of players.

Art is stretching the bounds of reality a bit I think.

As for who’s better, I would say they are all pretty bad, it’s just a matter of who’s more tolerable, and for that I would say most. Guy Mowbray for a start isn’t too bad, but then he’s not on live matches much anymore.
I can't stand Mowbray. Maybe it's because he used to be on a lot with Lawro, but it was like they were both trying to see who could make the most jokes every time they are together.

I don't listen to Five Live so can't comment on them, but Radio is a lot different than TV.

The play-by-play shouldn't really comment much other than describing what's happening. It's up to the "colour commentator" to add the insight and explain why things are happening. @theShiznit commented earlier that when we brought on Sanchez that Tyler said we'd gone to a back three, even though we were playing with a back three all second half. It's was Smith's job to recognise this and he should have done it the second the half kicked off if he knew what he was talking about.

But yes, I agree, he’s probably got a producer in his ear telling him to up the hype constantly. It I also think he’s all to desperate to make a comment that will go down in history like the “Aguerrrrrrooooooooo” moment.
Well if he wants to emulate Agueroooooo he should just give up, because there's no way a season finale like that's going to happen again in our lifetime, and, being a bit mean, certainly not in his. It was an absolutely perfect storm in every single way.

In a way that moment has ruined all foreseeable future coverage of the league, because it is, completely objectively, the greatest moment the league has had since the break away in '92 and nothing will ever justify the massive media hype in quite the same way again.

Radio is indeed different. They need to be better because the only have their words. I find TV commentators lazy.

then you get the newcomers that they are trying to use more and more like Kevin Cambell .
Well we are really going to get a fair shake from him aren't we ...not.
His comments on twitter about Higuan being in more finals than spurs have in the last ten years and he has only just signed for Chelsea
Factually correct and it gives you a warm feeling that the new breed are going to be fair and open minded like the older pundits are.
For me those that can coach or manage those that can't go into punditry.
Barry Davies was not an ex player which was a plus and he did not seem to have favourites tho he probably did have his no 1 team you could not tell because he was an ultimate pro

I mostly stream my football, and I’d take Sky’s coverage over any of the foreign channels.

One of the American broadcasters regularly has Dixon and Le Saux doubling up on co comms and it’s fucking hideous. Dixon only wants to talk about Arsenal and I don’t think Le Saux actually gives a shit about football.

Maybe BT have the edge on Sky, and I think Jake Humphrey is probably the best sports host in the country, but no one comes close to the insight offered by Neville as a pundit. Carragher is good as well, but the quality drops off quite steeply after that.

Sky are becoming more like a Football gossip column than a Sports channel.

Give me BT coverage ANY day over Sky.

It's almost as if they deliberately whip up crap to make people gamble on things, if only they had an online betting company set up that could be able to take advantage of that.

For the record they sold their majority stake in that company years ago, made a ton of money too.

BBC aren’t bad. Lineker is quality and Walker and Chapman are great anchormen. Shearer has improved massively and to be fair to him Ian Wright isn’t bad and is likeable. Jenas is improving too, interesting to hear him on co-comms tonight. Fair enough they have morons like Murphy, Lawro, Crooks etc but can’t have everything
