If he's doing that at 28 like Defoe I'd be worried but he's what 21/22.

The fact remains Spurs are relying on a young lad to lead their team. Soldado and Ade should hang their heads in shame.

If you're good enough you're old enough.. Kane looks closest to a so called 'uber striker' we have.. he's got a bit of everything. Great to see him back up top, I think it makes such a difference to us.

Great first 45, very professional job, but we absolutely must keep it up, they will go for broke inthe second half and we need to be on our toes.

This, Far from over see Bradford at Chelsea. But good signs first half. Come on guys, a fast goal out of open play would be tasty

think we've played very well, very good tempo, sensible pressing and moved the ball quickly without giving it away too often, would like abit more from lamela, eriksen and kane in terms of interchanging with the ball but playing much better than i feared.

what a freekick. eriksen's best for me.

Lamela has been disappointing. How many times has he been tackled. He should be stepping up against this level of opposition, but he seems to be an argentinian townsend when it comes to decision making - without the decent pace.

Ive never seen Dembele tackled so much, but this is becaase he is playing further forward. Against weaker opponents i think this works, as he has helped break on several occasions and also held the ball up well, but he lacks the invention of an AM. Still not bad.

I think stambouli and kane have looked our best players, with Mason keeping things ticking over pretty nicely.

Finally we're seeing the high press with a degree of regularity under Poch. That first half, I lost count the amount of times we won the ball high up the pitch.

Had we taken more care with our build up play, we could/should be, conceivably, 3 nil up - tie dead as a dodo.

We saw Poch's style for a full half there. More of the same please for the second half.

Sheffield are better at parking a bus than driving the bus. This is a very significant lead and if we keep on point, we should have played ourselves into a final with that goal.

Come on lads, keep focus!

That's my one worry. How often have we come out for the second half looking to sit on a lead, only to let the opposition back in. If they score they'll know they're just one goal away from a 'next goal wins' scenario. We need to keep pushing them.

Dembele, bossing it. Can't always say that but glad to be saying it now.

Wonderful free kick from Eriksen, Lamela and Eriksen adding some fantastic movement one touch passing and general intelligent but progressive play which you just don't get with Lennon, Andros (different players) and Rose playing advanced. Lamela has lost the ball a couple of times when he has had a bit of time and space which was frustarting, but when the ball is being knocked around quickly its *almost* like an advanced Modric, picking up space and keeping the ball moving in the oppo half.

Stambouli doing well in all areas of the pitch.

Edit:Completely on my own with the Lamela assesment it seems, just gunna turn this back off and watch the match, maybe the beer is affecting what i'm seeing......

It's hard to find fault with that half, except that we should have scored 2 or 3. Kane has taken shots from positions where he should have cut the ball back. Campbell-Ryce got past Davies once. That's about it.

Basically, everyone has played a focused, intense game, as if designed to neutralise SU's potential advantage: the "midweek cup match up north, don't like it up 'em" factor. The key tactic has been that Mason, Stambouli and Dembélé have repeatedly won the ball off United's midfielders: they've been first to the loose ball and have caught SU in possession numerous times. We look like the aggressive, physical side, not them.

Dembélé was slow to get into the game, but has started to make things happen, although he still releases the ball a half-second too late, even when he's on the wing. Mason and Stambouli have been excellent. Lamela has made a few good runs. Kane is full of energy, but nothing has come off for him so far. The defence has been largely untroubled.

And Eriksen is Eriksen. He gets it done, at the right time and in the right way, without flamboyance or fuss.

Great first half and i was really impressed again with Stambouli. He has slowly worked his way into the team and him mason and bentaleb look to be poch's fav players when available. Dembele was also very good further up the pitch as he managed to keep and hold the ball well for others to join in.

I totally agree.

But sooner or later he's going to need some help. Lets hope Eriksen keeps banging them in.

Always felt dembele further forward or out wide would allow us to cause more problems. You need someone to apply a bit of trickery. I think when he is in cm, he's probably a bit less inclined to try it in case he loses possession at a critical point. Playing further allows him to play closer to his natural attributes.
