That's just it...they don't want him....he wants them.
As opposed to all our other players who always dreamed of coming only to us, we were always top of their list.
I'm sure that dates back to when it looked like he was more likely going to United so not really his heart speaking.

Edit: Krule you have spam rated me in error, fat thumb I expect.

You may be sure but why should I be ?....negative reports like this do nothing to endear fans....I'm quite sure his agent touted him as a prospective Man Utd player in hope of securing a massive transfer fee. His club however realised they were not interested and the best offer came from Spurs. Old school me but you join (and support) this club because your heart is in it 100% and you believe in what it is trying to achieve...it's what makes us different to everyone else and why I have supported them for over 50 years. We have a fundamental belief and principle....we need committed players...not mercenaries.
God I wish Harry Kane had ten brothers.....

Edit...Correct..apologies...Doh! rating duly given....lol

Call me old fashioned but if a guy signs for you because it is a financial decision of his club and not his own personal preference then we are making a bad signing. I read Foyth explaining why he wants to join us compared to the other interested clubs and I am filled with positive anticipation of his arrival. I read things like this (plus the guys past history) and I can't help but naturally have misgivings.

Having agreed with your sentiments, I don't think it is unusual for players to be transferred to whom the club wants rather than the player being given the choice. I'm prepared to give the benefit of the doubt that he will give his best. It is not in the interest of the the player not to do so. Just a thought.

Do you really think so?

keeping in mind the Barkley saga, I don't think that is so much the case as in the past.

That's better, I can understand a doh rating, that is just your opinion but a spam rating made no sense.
I'm not quite sure if I am on the same sheet as you though, do you think he doesn't want to come to us but is only coming for the money, do you not believe by speaking to him we couldn't sell our great club and change his mind.
Do you also think our other purchases chose us over Manchester United or would have done had United or another rich club been interested too, some would but you cannot say all would, they owe absolutely no allegiance to us until they come to us

SFR sport saying he prefers United but they have his less than us so PSG pushing him to us
Nearly everyone in the media is obsessed with trying to engineer any possible statement made by any footballer who has a pulse that they would prefer to join Man Utd above any other team, or in the alternative they are desperate to do so wherever they are.

You are quite right in as much as there are always those who fight to get away such Costa and Coutinho as examples. Also, where two or more clubs are competing, the player will try to engineer a move to the club he prefers as in the case oh our Wimmer not wanting WBA. I was just making the point, perhaps badly, that clubs tend to come in for players and the players go where they are told, and if players don't finish with their preference, they usual put their disappointment to one side and give of their best.

Sorry about that....I shall try to explain my position on this....
So often we see player's agents say that clubs have made enquiries about their players just to boost up the transfer fee and their commission...they also use this ploy in another way by saying their player would 'love to play for' and has 'always dreamed of joining' a particular Premiership side. From what I can gather this was the worm dropped in the water by Aurier's agent but Man Utd were not biting. PSG want rid and the best offer on the table is ours. All I am saying is he's not coming to us for the right reasons...read Foyth's statement and you are instilled with belief in the guy and his reasons for joining us...see things like this and doubts invariably creep in. I don't think this guy chose us over Man Utd because it was never an option....but would he if the situation had existed ??? I think he would and the reasons why he would have made that decision is everything Spurs are NOT about...and why I love the club.

I'm not too sure that he chose to leave ~ it is more likely that PSG had no further use for him. As you say, it is possible PSG were hoping to encourage Utd to buy him knowing they were more likely to pay more than Spurs. Another theory, is his agent may have put the story out. Whatever the reason, the player was caught in the middle and where ever his final destination was to be, if it wasn't his preferred choice, I think he will put it behind him and fight for his place.

I don't think Klinsman, Gazza, Waddle, Ginola, Bale, Modric etc ever dreamed of playing for us or were probably that delighted to be coming to us but all bought into us once they were here.
Football is a job and they all want money. The prospect of more money if they play well is what motivates most players.

I agree...as my post says...his agent would start the story rumours and PSG wanted rid....as to his commitment once he joins...time will tell.

This is via Harry Hotspur. I apologise in advance and expect to get slaughtered for it, but here goes. First a link.....

https://sport.sfr.fr/football/premier-league/tottenham-aurier-preferait-aller-a-man-united.html

Then a translation.....

INFO BREAKING FOOT – Serge Aurier is expected to make good with Tottenham this week. The Parisian found an agreement with the Spurs but had an initial preference for Manchester United.

The club of Mauricio Pochettino had the favors of the PSG after having formulated an offer of 5 million euros more expensive than that of the Red Devils.

But it was finally Pini Zahavi, adviser for the club of the capital and close to the president Daniel Levy, who tipped the balance by giving a notice in favor of the Londoners.

Not going to pass this off as my own. Suggests his original preference but not any more.

Really hope we get him. Need a full back who 'owns' his side of the pitch. For all of Walkers deffiencies, his physicality controlled the right side of our pitch, I'm hope Aurier does the same.

This guy seems to play 100% committed when he's on the field. Just seems to be in DNA. Always turned up to 11. So don't think that element is relevant (if it is the case).

If he comes he'll be on it for us.
