shit ref but shit Spurs. You should never allow it to come down to the ref. We should've won in 90 mins. Simple as.

It's a fair point but still when the ref chalks off a legitimate goal, and gives a penalty because he's too f*cking fat to keep up with the action, something needs to be done.

This really was incompetence that matched Stiles against Newcastle in Shearer's final season. Just like they wanted to make he got his final, they make sure the 'dream' of Portsmouth comes to fruition.

Don't forget the fat b*stard wrongly booked Palacious meaning he misses the next two in our fight for fourth as well. I mean compare Palacious' challenge for the penalty and Brown's challenge on Krancy which wasn't even worthy of a freekick.

Incompetence thy name is Alan Wiley.

There were a few stories about Manuel Mejuto Gonzalez coming to the Premier League in a year or two to referee (he did the Real Madrid/Barca match), but the FA said they didn't want foreign officials.

We definitely suffer at the hands of referees, Wiley is an awful ref and always has been but the sad truth is that there isn't even one remotely competent ref in England, they really are a bunch of collective clueless twats.

Today's refereeing was terrible as usual, the FA really need to be doing something radical about this as the refs are now deciding more games than ever before.

Wiley you noob. Fat ball of lard with no brain, he couldn't hack all that running.

Wilson clearly got the ball, it was a clear FAIR goal and the freekick should have never been awared. To add the cherry on top the turf made Daws slip.

The 1st 2 bookings he gave to pompey stopped 2 great spurs attacks. Pathetic. Football is a joke, wiley is fat and i now support bob sliegh, wiley should stand on the track.

Yup, there were at least three or four chances where bentley, kranjcar, or corluka were breaking away with the ball in a ton of space and pompey was stretched, then Wiley pulled play back for a foul. Ok, his other three massive screw-ups have a slightly plausible excuse in that they may have looked correct to his mind in real time, but how can you not play obvious advantage?

Just terrible, I thought when he disallowed Crouch's goal he was going to give us a penalty from James' foul on Kranjcar instead ala Crouch's wonder"goal" against Portsmouth that got disallowed to give us a free kick.

First time round in full speed I never for a second thought it was a pen, replays proved that it was never a pen, the ref as far as I am aware was in a decent position to make the call and got it spectacularly wrong, having said that I wasn't in the least bit surprised he gave it.

That coupled with the ridiculous decision to disallow Crouch's goal cost us the game, even though we were well below par we matched Pompey and should have taken it to pens, so all this credit going their way is really pissing me off.

If he hadn't fucked up the call in disallowing our goal the penalty incident probably wouldn't have come about either.

You mean against Fulham.

The guy had an absolute mare. I had always backed him as being a decent ref but yesterday he was way off the mark. I did wonder before the game whether the criticism he received after our game up at Wigan (for not sending off Defoe) would have played on his mind beforehand?

The "goal" from Crouch was wrongly disallowed cos he bottled it. As for Palacios foul, he ought to have had a look across at the linesman for help as he may have seen the contact Palacios made with the ball. That said, you always stand a chance of being on the wrong end of those, and its no wonder Palacios has ended up with 10 yellows when some of his decision making in tackles puts him in those situations. In any case had Crouch's effort been allowed, we would never have been in that position as we would not have been chasing the game as hard.

Back to Wiley though, how on earth was Michael Brown not even booked in that game. You could quite clearly see Wiley say to Brown at one point "that's 5 or 6 you have had now so just calm it down"!! 5 or 6?? I ask you.

And what was so different about Browns challenge that left Kranjcar on a heap on the floor to Palacios tackle that led to their pen? Just cos Brown came away with the ball did not make the challenge fair. He came through Krancjar from behind.

Wiley should hang his head in shame after that game. Not that he will care though.

Both semi finals were overshadowed by two awful decisions and a shit pitch, will anything happen though? Of course not, it was us and Villa that were wronged, not Man Utd and Chelsea so it's alright...

When it goes to extra time you often wonder which team will start to flag. In this case - neither - it was the ref who wasn't fit enough. He'd been grim all game and I felt over-fussy at times but he made some absolute howlers. From where I was standing it looked like a stonewall penalty for us when the ball came in from our left and a Pompey player had his arm out. Does anyone know why it wasn't given? (Apart from the fact that Wiley is a ****)

Haven't had the benefit of seeing replays, but no-one around us had a clue why our "goal" was disallowed, the penalty was too far away really for me to be able to comment, but we should have had a penalty down our end.

Such a shame that a big game has been decided not by skill but by a pitch and a crap referee.

Our goal was disallowed because Krancjar jumped to head the ball infront of James, who completely fluffed it... Its a joke that the goal was disallowed

a different weekend with a pair of competent refereess and it could have been a completely different line up for the final , as someone who watches a lot of football i find myself seeing more and more games where the the referee has a bigger say in the final result than the two teams playing .

think its about time a serious look at the standards of refereeing in the this country are taken , if they can't be brought up to an acceptable consistant standard then bring some in from abroad that can do the job correctly or allow the use of video replays .

but lets face it its probably the final the fa wanted , one of their favorite 4 verses the underdog relegated team fairy story . wonder which way the decisions go in the final ?

It worries me how Webb, Wiley etc. are still allowed to ref at the top level, surely it can't be that hard to find fair refs who can keep up with the pace of a game?

The one thing these sort of incidents do show is how desperately technology needs to be used in the game. A quick review on the disallowed goal would have let it stand, a quick review of the penalty claim would have seen no pen given or booking, a quick review of the Terry tackle would have seen him sent off. There is too much money at stake for these incidents to keep costing teams
