Genuine question (from a ST holder with enough loyalty points to have got a league cup final ticket comfortably):

Do you really see it as years of sacrifice? If so, why do you do it? I do it because I enjoy doing it (though in all honestly that enjoyment has now all but dried up).
I enjoy going of course, but there’s clearly sacrifice involved in going to all our games. Missed social engagements, planning things with your family around fixtures, obviously the expense, using holiday days from work on occasion, all holidays being booked around the fixture list. Being a dedicated match goer means putting a lot of things as second best, and for the majority of the time since I’ve been going, without much reward.

I’ve applied and I guess about 1 in 4 chance of success but I’ve been waiting so long to get back there, and hopefully watch Bale live again I will go if I get lucky.

With a 6pm KO and everything else covid related I’d be surprised if it’s not more of a 1 in 2 chance

On the £60 ticket price I started boycotting away games when the tickets got to £60 mark!!!

I think my ST works out to £57 a game and I’m getting to the point where enough is enough...

they are so tone deaf it's remarkable. Or I guess they literally don't care. £61.75 for a Wednesday night at 6PM.

Yep, the cost is stupid. It is yet another PR disaster from them. Make the tickets 25 quid and fans won't moan. They really don't care about us at all.

But you make those decisions, to miss things with friends and family, spend money and use holiday days/book holidays around games (all of which I am familiar with) because you want to right? I only ask because I am very interested not least because of my own position; which is that I've relatively recently had my first child, and whilst I hope in time that he will want to come with me to games, if I have a choice of spending time with him or going to a game (particularly involving a schlepp up the M6 or somewhere) I would choose him pretty much every time (except maybe for a cup final!). My point being that it makes me conscious that I spend all this time and money on football out of choice, not because I feel like I have to - and your comment about sacrifice got me wondering (y)

My son was born nearly 3 years ago and since then I have struggled to go week in week out - it wasn't money as such but the family time lost - Covid has enabled me to defer my ST last season and again this season but before that it was a big toss up of wanting to go to the game but also wanting to be with my family.

That being said I have him on the ST waiting list already.

Yes I do make this decision because I want to, and no I know I don’t have to do it, there is no gun to my head, but equally the club has meaning to me (and I imagine this resonates) beyond being a form of entertainment. It’s a relationship, a largely one sided, often abusive, largely unsatisfying relationship...

Levy could have made a good PR inroad by even making the tickets free - I mean making 600k in the grand scheme of things isnt a great deal. I know its idealistic but given that theyve had our money for a year and covid and the ESL stuff - I think it would have been a good gesture.

I think it goes to show there's a lot of people paying over a grand for a season ticket who don't actually rationise that to "£60 a game"

True that. I still think it is ridiculous considering the day and time. Not 100% the clubs fault,I just think a gesture would have gone down well at the moment.

Yeah I’m not too worried about the price. I’ll pay it because I want to go. How much money have I saved not buying food and drink at the stadium over the last year, more than 60 quid that’s for sure.

It’s the kick off time I’m pissed off about.

When are they opening up ticket sales?

I want to see us next season but have been offered a Brighton season ticket for 545. Considering taking it up as it includes free train train before and after the games, and at least I would get to see some football. (Be nice to not give a shot about losing too)

Whatever you want, I could buy a season ticket for DC United but I rather travel 3500 miles to see my Spurs.
