I'd rather we not sign him this summer at all now, he won't be anywhere near match fit after recovering from injury and we need people to play now, especially with Son out injured and Alli missing for 3 European games.

We must have a plan B so I feel we need to go for that.
If we don't pull our finger out we won't be. As reports suggesting Man Utd are going to put an offer in for him, if that's the case we can forget it once again. Mourinho has history with doing that to us (WILLIAN) to bastard slow again. I'm sure Barkley is Poch main target? Let's hope not .

We're not gonna pay £50m for him though. If Man U want to then that's fine.

Also, timing of bids has got nothing to do with how successful you are with signing a player. If the player/club/agent know another team with greater resources are interested then a lot of the time they will wait it out for that club to make an offer knowing it will be superior to whatever we can offer. However, in this case I think the Man U speculation is just made up to get Levy to pay up now. The asking price will come down later on in the window and Levy will win this one out. The player obviously wants to join us.

Good shout just a little worried Poch targets slip through the net. What the knock on effect would have on him, I know we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and if Poch is ok with it, that's good with me as he is the most important asset at our club.

How much should we offer for him now, in your opinion?

Just as many sources have said Everton are looking at a fee around the £30m mark, which to get Poch's top target in for preseason in the current market seems a good deal to me, especially considering our income to date.

This injury complicates things, so I'm now more inclined for Levy to go to work, but that does open the risk to being gazumped.

According to journo Ive been speaking to, there isnt any competition. Irrespective of any interest elsewhere coming in Barkley has agreed all to us and is not looking anywhere else. The stumbling block appears to be the payment structure from £25m transfer fee and the top up value to £30m. We want this £5m to be over certain club and player achievements and Everton want it to be applicable to a more realistic criteria.

I read that as we want it to be inclusive of Premier league titles and Champions League success. They probably want it to be focused on appearances.

Bottom line is the media EXPECT this to be resolved and completed at some point for sure

He certainly isn't worth 50mil with a year left on his contract. I'm not a transfer guru but 20-25 maybe a little more. What's your opinion?

Like you, I'm no transfer guru. I don't know what Pochettino fells RB's potential is. But yes, something in the £25m area feels reasonable for a young-ish player who certainly has ability but has not made much progress in the last couple of years.

The point is though, if the club feels his value is around half of what Everton are asking for, even if we all believe Everton are being unrealistic, there isn't going to be a quick deal and we shouldn't be so naive as to believe the reason for that is Levy dicking around.

Well if that is the case then I expect it to be concluded sooner rather than later, unless Levy has one of goal post moving shenanigans.
